I would think he would rather coach in the SEC than coach in the B1G. He seems like a good coach who could keep a lot of current players and continue to keep that program rolling.

I really don’t get the appeal for the bama job for lanning. He’s young and that is the epitome of no patience-win or be crushed type of job following a legend.
Lanning has a prime spot within the nil era that he can easily make the playoffs at.
Kiffin would be making a step up. Lanning yes a step up but he’s already at a place that can win a NC unlike kiffin

How many football national championships does Oregon have?
I think with the 12 team playoff, the path to a NC is about as easy for Ole Miss as it is for Oregon.

I think Lanning would do great at Alabama. After Lanning, If I was a Bama fan, I would probably prefer an older saban-esque coach like Cignetti from Indiana (formerly JMU) to try to keep the process going, as opposed to a wildcard like Kiffin or Sark.

They’ve played for the title twice in recent memory.
They barely missed the playoff this year.
They have Nike.
Oregon is clearly the better program than ole miss.
They are not upper crust but they are closer to upper crust than OM is to UO

Ole Miss does not have, nor will ever have Nike money behind it. And Oregon will now have just as much TV money as an SEC program to go with that.

I don’t get the hype around Lanning. He has underachieved his two years as a head coach.
