Wait, I keep forgetting what Gary Patterson is doing right now.
Looked, he is SAHC at Texas. Kelly needs to bring him to Baton Rouge and put him on the defensive staff or as an analyst. Definitely want his recruiting inroads and defensive knowledge. Make him the highest paid LB coach.

I agree. Other than money, I don’t see why Fritz would benefit by leaving Tulane for Houston. Houston is not going to dominate the Big12. Tulane will likely dominate the AAC and get into the playoffs more than Houston.

It's absolutely up for grabs. Anyone is capable of becoming the dominant program. UH has resources. It could happen.

The rest who the hell cares
Houston is 8 of the 16 teams despite having recruited those players mostly as a G5 program. They will get better players the longer they're at the P5 level.
I would honestly expect UCF to begin recruiting better as well.
The only lock I see to out recruit Houston going forward is TCU.
Absolutely no reason Houston couldn't become the big 12 power.
I think Utah is the safest bet as they recruit well compared to the rest of the conference and they have a great coach in place but there's no reason the right person at Houston wouldn't own the big 12.
Tulane also has a conference problem. The American is significantly weaker than it has been in the past after losing so many top programs.
Oregon State and Washington State will eventually be forced into the Mountain West and it'll get stronger and potentially overtake the American. The Sun Belt has also closed a ton of ground on the AAC with smart additions from FCS and stealing some CUSA programs leading to it's near collapse. The playoff spot will not be an AAC lock.

Houston is definitely the better job, but the one downside is the outsized pressure with respect to the program's actual status and standing. Khator's statement on firing coaches for going 8-5 a few years ago was beyond stupid. Would be interesting to see if 64-yr-old Fritz would be willing to sacrifice job security for a non-top-tier program with high potential in need of rebuild.
