You already know that extension is probably coming soon. I think it’s more likely than not that Lane stays at OM. However if the weeks drag on with no new deal, then you know the Lane sweepstakes is on.

Kiffin is a king in Oxford town. He'd be the puppet of a crazed gov at LSU who's going to be lurking over his shoulder.

I think somehow the son will have an impact in his decision too. Where does he envision him to play in college. I know wherever his dad is, but what college.

When Kiffin signs his extension with Ole Miss will people accept that it was always going to happen or will they blame Landry and the AD situation?

Does it matter?

quote:

Ole Miss isn't going to let Kiffin get away. They will make him the highest paid coach in the country if necessary. It will actually be the cheapest option for them long term. Why take a chance on a new coach when they already have the hottest coach available at Ole Miss.

Kiffin is on record saying money won't be the driver for him and he's on record this week talking about how huge buyouts are ridiculous.

quote:

The fools here will blame Landry though.

Landry is the ringleader of this clown show this week. Firing a coach is news on Monday. Firing an AD shortly after gets news on Friday. The governor of a state publicly admonishing the AD before his appointed board fires said AD and then doubles down on a media circuit the next day is crazy to anyone not wearing red political glasses.

You can agree with the decisions that were made and be absolutely embarrassed how our governor handled it publicly at the same time. Landry missed the mark on this one all week and LSU may suffer for it. If they do, I think there will probably be a new governor elected in 2027. This was overreach done publicly and the entire country outside of some Landry fans in LA know it.

Can OM guarantee 30mill annual NIL roster like our O&G money is about to do?

Waiting on that extension. Indiana had Cignetti’s extension done much quicker

So do you really think coach lane?Kiffin is gonna retire in the small town of oxford mississippi? And he will never leave that place?

Yeah, maybe. Oxford is actually awesome and way better on non-football weekends. Great food, quiet, nice, fairly inexpensive. Our fans trash it, but it's a cool place.

A lot of wealthy people are actually retiring there now from Memphis and Jackson, MS, etc.

He is going to make the playoffs this year and with a 12 team or even further expanded playoff, and Ole Miss' commitment to NIL, he could make the playoffs most years.

Lane might be thinking, I can stay here and take Ole Miss to a level the program has never reached before. If he does that, he’d be absolutely revered there. LSU has already been to the top, so maybe he’s more motivated by the idea of building something historic at Ole Miss.

Everyone knows college coaching contracts are worthless. No college ever holds a coach to fulfilling their contract. They just announce I'm leaving for another job, and pack their bags.

If Kiffin stays or goes it isnt because Ole Miss let him get away or kept him its because he wants to.

Whatever Ole Miss offers Kiffin, LSU can match... it will all come down to does kiffin want to leave comfort of Oxford for a bigger challenge.

If i were AD.... I'd get Kiffin to come to the facilities, I'd walk him out into Tiger Stadium and remind him that no matter how much love he may receive in Oxford... there is nothing like Saturday Night in Death Valley when the Tigers are playing Bama, or Florida, or Georgia, Or Auburn, or Ole Miss, or Texas, Or Texas AM, or Oklahoma.....

The stadium comes alive. It releases a guttural roar like no other... and the hairs on the back of your neck stand at attention as you watch your team systematically dismantle the hopes and dreams of the visiting team. You leave the stadium victorious but with an ache in every joint because the noise vibrated deep into the sinews holding your body together.

Money isn’t going to be the deciding factor for Kiffin. It will be where does he want to coach.

Ole Miss
Florida
LSU

All are going to match the highest bid
