Having Sark on staff as an OC in waiting is as good as it gets.

But even if not, look at what Ensminger did for us this season. That guy was a failed OC and was able to come in and do fine on short notice simply because he knew the terminology of the current offense and had a relationship with the players.

I'm not saying that it's guaranteed Sark will be fine, but it's not like he's guaranteed to fail.

Why would an OC leave for another OC job while he is on a title run? I can see leaving early for a HC gig though.

Why would people vote for Hillary fricking Clinton? It makes no sense but some people still actually did it.

speaking of president - "who would you have a beer with?" test

if Kiffin goes to LSU it would definitely be the LSU staff hands down.

That might translate to the Indy bowl, but a night out would be fun lol

I'll lay it out for you. Kiffin's contract is up at the end of the season. He will have to find a job. Assuming we are currently offering and he is accepting, you have to also assume Saban knows and doesn't want a coach on staff that could be "checked out" and/or recruiting/planning for his new division rival. They agree on a settlement and part ways.

Do you think Alabama would have hired our DL coach to be head man?

Well Bama once hired Mike Dubose and the great Shula so yes the answer is YES

Bama wins out and diminishes Lane's contribution

He made Blake Sims and Jake Coker very solid QBs. Bama winning out without Lane wouldn't diminish those things.

or Bama loses and Lane gets to troll Saban

1) Hit me with the list of people who truly get to troll Saban. I'll wait.
2) If Lane were to feel any desire to "troll" Bama in a scenario in which he left early, I would think that would speak incredibly poorly about him and any change he's made in past 3 years. The kids he's coached would be the ones bothered by that type of behavior, not Saban. That said, I doubt Lane would do that. He'd likely be pulling for Bama (or at least the players he's spent 3 years developing relationships with) to finish the deal

Yeah, he does have first had knowledge about that, doesn't he......

This. Let's hope he has "grown up" in the last few years (since leaving Tenn.), otherwise, DO NOT WANT.

While I'm mostly indifferent on Kiffin staying or going, the emotional side of me would consider it a loss to LSU, as they would be acquiring something that we have.

Regardless of its impact on BAMA, it is undeniably an upgrade at LSU. So I can stomach it.

Good post.

Yes, I remember Doug Nussmeier, he was a backup QB with the Saints in the 90s. In 5 games played, he was 46/82 for 455 yards, 1 TD and 4 INTs

But I figure if Jordon Jefferson can beat Alabama twice under Les Miles, anything can happen. (Remember them?)

My bad. I guess I should have prefaced that with "at this current time". Now if you want to compare the state of the programs at the time each made these choices, we can do that.

I sure as hell bet you and everyone else on this site would if he would do this to LSU.

Edit: Kiffin may be a great offensive coach, but he is shady as frick. If he comes here and everyone rejoices, NO ONE better get pissed off about it when he leaves us with our dick in our hands for a brighter job opportunity.

A talented coordinator leaving a program for a brighter job opportunity?

Unthinkable!

You weren't complaining about Aranda when LSU hired him but he's likely to do the same thing.

In today's world in CFB, you have to win. Sometimes that takes hiring a guy like Kiffin.

Didn't work out too bad for the Tide.

He will. He will show up do good for one year, people will sing his praises, and he will leave us high and dry. He's just using O as a stepping stone to try and 1) take Os job if O fails or 2) get a new job somewhere else. The guy that everyone is so gaga over is the dude that was trolling us on twitter less than a month ago. Pretty sad.

Except they have nick saban. We have Ed fricking Orgeron. Not only is nick a better HC by a mile he can manage kiffin well and keep him from stirring up too much shite. O is gonna let his buddy have free reign here. It's just bad news waiting to happen.

He can leave, that's fine. But if we are in the middle of a championship run and he pulls a stunt like he's pulling right now with Bama (which is fricked up IMO) then the entire fan base will lose their shite. Obviously, I was making a relative statement to the current thread that we are posting in.

And youre crazy if you think that LSU is a brighter opportunity than being the OC at Bama.
