My bad. I guess I should have prefaced that with "at this current time". Now if you want to compare the state of the programs at the time each made these choices, we can do that.
Don't be so full of yourself. The dynasty can crumble just as fast or faster than it was built. I don't care who you hire at Bama after Saban, because you are dreaming if you are expecting the same results.

Lincoln Riley - 100% not coming to LSU
Cumbie - lateral transfer to face tougher defenses. More $ but unlikely
Canada - has looked stellar @ Pitt. No clue if he'd be interested or if O even knows he exists
Plus there is zero hard evidence you can give that these guys are better than Kiffin.
Look I would love to have tons of unreal options but we likely don't.
Just like with our HC situation. Stud coaches aren't exactly lining up to come to LSU.

Same results aren't going to happen because the current results have only happened once in CFB history.
That said, if LSU can win 1 natty and appear in another based off Les freaking Miles coaching off Saban's 5 year foundation, then I'm pretty sure Dabo can take Saban's 14+ year foundation and maintain Bama as a top 5 program, which is where they've historically been.

None of those guys can recruit like Kiffin.
Ed Orgeron is our head coach. The most important thing I care about during this.....experiment (to term it lightly), is that we keep the roster stocked. They'll do that. Kiffin is also good with QBs and he's a good offensive mind. So there's that as well.

You say that, but you don't know unless you offer them money. These guys aren't unrealistic. The issue is O will do as good of a search as Alleva did. Have his one guy and ignore the rest. It's sad.

I said as good or better. Canada is nominated for a broyles award this year and pitt's offense in the top 10 of the country.
Sometimes you have to weigh all sides of a coach. Lane can coach, but he is a pr nightmare. Him and O have a history of fricking up programs they are at. I won't deny lane can coach, but he is a walking liability.
Why take that risk when you could go after Canada or someone else like Riley or Cumbia? You say there's no chance, but how do you know that? Did we make them an offer and he turned us down?

Cool. Can you share the link to the presser?
Yeah, a presser the day before the SEC championship...

Exactly. It's ridiculous. Just like claiming to know that Saban doesn't want Kiffin.

I'm not pro Kiffin or anti Kiffin, but I stopped reading here. Kiffin has proven, HAS proven, he can coach and offense in the SEC that can score on SEC defenses, and win games. Is that not enough of a selling point? Has he been a PR nightmare at UA?
Posted on 12/2/16 at 11:57 am to jmon
quote:No, but he's at Bama. Has he done stuff to merit bad PR? Maybe. Whatever he has done or has supposedly done has not been reported by the national media. There are rumors, though. Many, many rumors.
Has he been a PR nightmare at UA?

Actually Kiffin does/did very little recruiting while at Bama.

1) this is incredibly short sighted view of a guy who caused SANCTIONS at the university he was HC at.
2) nightmare, no, but saban has kept him quiet. He gets around saban by trolling college football teams on twitter. That's a guy you would like to see at LSU?
3) Just because someone can coach an offense doesn't make them the best person for the job. So no being an offensive coordinator in the SEC isn't enough of a qualifier. What happens if he causes trouble at LSU? Won't matter how good he is if we are being sanctioned by the ncaa/sec.
4) again there are other good coordinators out there besides kiffin. I don't understand why people think he is the one and only. If this was a real hire/search and not a joke like our HC search then we would be interviewing multiple people for the job.
5) if alleva signed off on this from the #bindergate interview he should be fired too. His laziness is the only reason we are looking at kiffin right now.

With that being said, he is still the 11th highest rated recruiter in the country this year at Bama.
He was a great recruiter at Tennessee and USC and before Bama he was known for being one of the greatest recruiting coaches in the country. He will recruit at LSU.

If he goes there, absolutely.

Kiffin and his assistants are also accused of making improper phone calls to recruits even after Tennessee officials had warned them against making such phone calls. Kiffin made impermissible phone calls to recruits from Jan. 3-9, 2010, just days before ending his 14-month tenure at Tennessee and leaving for USC. Among the recipients of the calls was Seantrel Henderson, who signed with USC after Kiffin was hired but was later released form his commitment.
"On the advice of my legal counsel, we cannot comment other than to say we look forward to working through the process with the NCAA," Kiffin said in a statement.

Trolling Fournette and LSU this year
What a stand up guy. He always runs a clean program and has clean/honest recruiting tactics.

UH just got burned by Herman using them as a stepping stone after not that long ago getting burned by Sumlin using them as a stepping stone.
Out of this list, who is the MOST likely to use UH as a stepping stone to a bigger program in the shortest amount of time?
- Todd Orlando
- Les Miles
- Lincoln Riley
- Lane Kiffin
Also, which of these coaches is the biggest risk from a PR standpoint?
Who has the most upside potential with the least risk? Riley? Orlando? Miles?
Yeah Lane is not getting that job IMO
LSU desperately needs a QB developer. Bring on Lane. Let's do this!
