You’d need more than that to pull Dillingham, ASU will probably giving him at least that in the next month or so

his total comp is 7.5, ASU will not go over 10, I dont think they go over 9. they cant come close to matching assistant pool or nil.

Mizzou can, hell they matched for baker to keep him

but you think he is going to come here for less than 11 and it not be guaranteed? come on man, you are smarter than that.

If it’s 4 years $44 million guaranteed it’s fine. Or if it’s 6 years and you only guarantee around the same amount it’s fine. Drink is 42, he’s not going to quit like BK did so even if it doesn’t work out, you’re looking at a 1 year buyout at worse.

It’s guaranteeing these long contracts or extensions that kill these programs. Elko is getting extended this week, makes absolutely no sense. The dude isn’t going anywhere and has had 10 good games at A&M. It appears the tide is starting to turn with this stuff though so we’ll see.

And all this “Golesh will be cheaper” stuff, I’m not sure. We saw this with Sunbelt Billy just a few years ago. All he has to do is get two schools competing and he’ll get up to the $9 million range.

At LSU it used to be irrelevant but between buyouts , revenue sharing, and NIL it’s something we have to consider

The buy-out was ponied up by a private donor who works in tech on the west coast. There will always be wealthy individuals looking for tax write offs.

This season alone? At the moment it’s @Oklahoma. LSU sucks now obviously but at the time y’all were #4 in the nation.

Fair enough. I would still say going 1 and done this year in the playoff would be a disappointment and would still have Lane fighting the can't win the big game narrative. Kirby had that until he finally beat Bama in the National Championship for reference.

I’m aware but after that do you think he’s going to want to continue to throw up money to buy the roster ?

Dude is rich but at a certain point…

The main issue with the coaching contracts is that the penalties only flow one way (the school having to pay the buyout). Now there are some coaches where you can make this argument, but Elko's initial contract with TAMU should have had a more proportional buyout if he left, which neuters the threat of him leaving after a year like this one.

I think it's kinda crazy to pay kiffin 15/16 mil but what I do like about him other than elite offense and qb play is what he has done on the player attainment side.

His teams seem to find undervalued guys that play good winning football.

I wouldn't be mad if lsu went with a guy like will stein though.

That is supposedly the biggest hang up on Ole Miss’s extension for him and Sexton. Right now his buyout is $4 million if he leaves. We allegedly are bumping that up to at least $15 million if he leaves and Sexton doesn’t like that number. So we have been at a standstill for a little over a week which is conveniently when all the Florida smoke started to come out.

Lane can get portalers for his offense & can make average skill players All-conference players
He could make Louisiana skill players
All-Americans

Penn state was wanting to talk to Elko. Plus Elko is a good coach that a&m wants to keep. They want to get in front of someone poaching him.
