Lots of smoke this might be getting announced today. I know nobody probably cares lol but it's Iowa and their offense, so some posters might...

Looks like he has been above average. I like the hire if it happens. Anything is better than what we had! Former OC @ Indiana, Memphis & Duke.

At this point I feel like Ferentz hiring an OC is like Les Miles hiring an OC. You know what you're going to get as long as he's around.

Ferentz is nearing retirement especially if the offense doesn't show marked improvement

Ferentz is a piece of shite. Literally stealing money. Offense is completely non existent to the point that the University fired his son because he wouldn’t fix it. You would think he would go ahead and retire but no he doubles down and is still drawing a check.

That would be as good of a hire as anyone could expect. Johns is legit.

I mean they’ve won 10 games 3 out of the last 5 years at Iowa. I’m sure watching that offense each week is like watching paint dry, but he’s making them as successful as Iowas could probably ever dream of being.

Pretty low class thing of you to say...Ferentz is a good dude. Sure he has had some issues but what coach hasn't?

Most coaches are very complimentary of Kirk and the way he has ran the program.

Yyyyyeeeeeaaaaahhhh, but let's look at who they played. Utah St, Iowa St, W Michigan, Penn State (L 31-0), Mich St, Purdue, Wisconsin, Minn (L), Northwestern, Rutgers, Illinois, Nebraska, Mich, and Tenn (lost the last 2 by combined score of 61-0).

Don't know who they are playing this next season but can't be good news that Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA are going to be in the conference. There won't be as many B10 cupcakes as there have been on the schedule.

They're at OSU, at home against Washington, and at UCLA but the rest is normal shitty Big Ten teams. If their offense is just bad instead of dreadful they should hit 9 wins.

You’ll notice I pointed out records for 3 of the past 5 years. I understand their side of the conference is soft and that’s changing and I’m not sitting here telling you they are an elite program or that Ferentz is an awesome coach

I’m just saying we can take the dramatics out of it (“LITERALLY STEALING MONEY”) when he’s achieving the highest possible success you could expect at that school, even if he gets there in an unsexy way.

The "stealing money" said by someone is a bit much but Ferentz and Iowa simply can't score...a tad of a problem in today's football world. And I will say that Iowa is probably not a hotbed of recruiting either. I don't know all the Iowa coaches of the past but I have heard of Hayden Fry. Interesting to me that HF and KF have the same winning % at Iowa if you round to nearest %. 62%

Iowa is like the Steelers in the sense that Iowa has had only 2 coaches since 1979.

Disagree. Ferentz has done wonders for Iowa football. He’ll go down as their best head football coach in their whole history.

It’s very impressive that he’s stood the test of time. I mean in this day and age?!? Also, good on Iowa. They seemed to be pretty relevant most of the time.

Hayden Fry put Iowa on the map when it was the big 2, little 8... Hayden was brash and what Iowa needed at the time, Kirk is consistent and conservative. It's funny Kirk is part of the Hayden Fry coaching tree with the likes of Barry Alvarez, Bill Snyder, Bob Stoops, Dan Mccarney and of ofcourse Kirk Ferentz. Probably most legendary coaching tree in cfb history.

Iowa hires Tim Lester. Former HC at w. Michigan. Kind of underwhelming when it sounded like John's was a done deal a couple days ago...

Kirk Ferentz took 3 months to hire an offensive coordinator and settled on the guy who got fired after finishing 127th out of 131 teams in offensive SP+ in 2022. Impossibly funny. You couldn’t make it up

It really is comical. They have to weed through to find the couple of coaches that are running shitty offenses.
