I don’t think he would have been let go but I’m sure they don’t care about matching whatever Kentucky is offering. He also wasn’t making a ton in SEC DC terms because he was basically a position coach

He is a good recruiter but not sure how he’s gonna do running a defense. That is very much Elko’s responsibility.

Bateman and Sloan have to be two of the worst play calling coordinators in the SEC. If Stein is smart they will not last long in Lexington.

They’d never announce “he’s the OC but he’s not really”.

If he calls plays it’ll be in Stein’s offense with Stein leading game planning and Stein on the headset overriding him.

Similar to how Kiffin operates.

A DC of a team that Sloan is calling plays for won’t turn out good. The defense will be on the field a lot because Sloan sucks at calling plays

Why are a&m coaches such fat asses?

The fat women in college station causing men to be fat just like them?

I guess I dont understand the move. Why would he leave a seemingly bigger job?

1) Bateman was essentially demoted after last year and Elko has been calling plays on defense all year (with more success than last year)

2) Hemphill is taking over at DC and has been Elko’s right hand man for years. Was brought in as associate head coach specifically for this reason

3) Bateman as a LB coach leaves much to be desired. It’s the weakest position on the defense.

4) Bateman is seen as a great recruiter but hasn’t been able to attract any elite talent.

5) Bateman and DL coach Spencer were more outsiders we money whipped to make a lateral move from Florida to A&M. Spencer would be the bigger loss if he goes with him, but it seems there’s been a plan in place for all of this to happen for a year.

Maybe the position coaches will be good but those are not good coordinator hires

Replace Elko with Lane and Bateman with CWJ and that’s been Oxford the last 3 years

I’m sure that’s why Bateman was encouraged to find employment elsewhere while Kiffin made Weis the highest paid OC in the SEC.

He probably wants to show it’s not just Elko.

A&M is going to be an interesting team next year

How butt hurt are you that LSU got Lane Kiffin? I remember you talking all kinds of shite. Watching you go from arrogant troll to sniveling bitch about the hire and “he’s leaving his team during a playoff run!” has been nothing short of amazing lol

At least you acknowledged the only reason for your schools success this year is bc you had the softest sec schedule in history.

Christmas still come early for you lmao?

His contract was up. Wasn't being renewed is the prevailing thought.

Yea I wouldn’t worry about dc with Elko there. Bateman is a good recruiter but then again not sure how much that really matters anymore. Development, evals and scheme along with a big checkbook seems to be the way.

Aggies felt the same way about Bateman that LSU felt about Sloan

I doubt that

Sloan fielded one of the worst offenses in school history this year.

New guy also has to coach 9 sec games, not 8.
We usually get more than 6 wins in years we go bowling, but schedule is definitely tougher with only 2 likely wins. Losing that 3rd one will be a killer
