Are these coaches getting some type of payment by both schools?

I think saying Lane had nothing to do with their success and was holding them back means as much if not more to them than winning a championship. I wouldnt underestimate their desire to cut loose Lanes LSU bound coaching staff. If they win without them, it proves Lane was irrelevant. If they lose without them its Lanes fault for getting jealous that the Rebs won games without him and refusing to let his offensive staff coach for them any longer.

Austin Thomas has sucked for the majority of his career and never been on a staff that won actual hardware.

He was a part of majorly disappointing LSU teams in from 2014-2017 and returned for the last two that were failures.

Guy is garbage and awful at his job.

They've already hired replacements who can step in if needed (can only see this for position coaches, not weis)

The game is next Thursday. This would be a colossally dumb move by Ole Miss.

I am fine with the coaches sticking with Ole Miss until the season is over. I also think it's good experience for those guys. Coaches are like players, more experience is better. Weis, and others, having to do this without Lane is nothing but good for them.

And keep the bridges with their players strong so when the season ends we can get some.

Let Pete Golding steer the ship, he’s got it

Seriously, I’d be surprised if the LSU coaches don’t all leave for good this weekend

They don't get to keep running their mouth about being treated so unfairly and enjoy the luxury of having coaches that are employed by LSU.

I suspect they could send home the position coaches but try to keep Weis as a co OC to try to teach the new OC what they are doing.

I hope he declines.

They've signed contracts with LSU. They work for LSU. There are penalties if they break those contracts. They aren't staying if LSU says leave.

Ok. But, from a practical standpoint, there are ramifications of doing that.

It would 100% blow up and be used negatively against LSU and Kiffin during the playoffs.

And, you do have the possibility that one or more of those coaches (with support from Ole Miss) would be unhappy with being forced out. And, that could end up harming LSU immediately or maybe in the future.

Kiffin will rightfully allow the staff to finish.

Anyone who wants to finish is going to, but just like the previous weeks they’re going to be splitting duties.

Ole Miss really has no recourse but to let them coach and LSU has no real reason to not allow it as long as Kiffin is comfortable with how they’re handling the split duties

the majority of the media is gonna shite all over LSU and Kiffin no matter what they do. That doesn't matter at all in this decision making process. My guess is Kiffin will do everything he can to let them finish coaching with Ole Miss. Kind of like he tried to do for himself.

I saw reports where Weis went with the team back to Oxford, so I’m sure he will stick around. I could see a couple of position coaches going ahead and leaving

I just read from Matt Moscana that Weis was back at LSU on Friday morning

I think the AD doesn't want Kiffin's coaching staff to get the credit in case OM gets to the NC game, or at the least to be a "distraction." Can you imagine the questions all week to the staff if that were to happen?

Maybe a distraction, but OM is going to have no issue of taking credit for winning a championship, if they do. Most of the national media will not be crediting Lane, they will be crediting Pete. It’s like when schools take credit for developing a NFL player 2 coaching staffs ago.

If there’s any truth to Ole Miss planning to file a tampering claim the LSU coaches are going to get pulled back immediately.

Yup, I’m fine with the LSU coaches helping OM, but if OM is going this route, pull them immediately. That’s beyond fricked up.

Just when you couldn’t imagine the LSU trip to Oxford in September being any spicier. Talk about throwing fuel on the fire
