How do you know that LSU is willing to pay the coach whatever he wants? That's easy to say when it isn't your money.

LSU is by no means a top-5 job like most here like to proclaim, but it is UNEQUIVOCALLY a better job than Florida State at this point in time.

For all it's crazy, Florida is probably a better run state than Louisiana. (No state income tax is just one reason)
Success at the highest level is easier to attain in the ACC than it is in the SEC. The SEC West by itself is probably the toughest conference in America. Fans don't care how tough a conference is (since 2010 Miles avg. only 2 losses against SEC West competition), they just want you to win.
Florida produces a ton of Div 1 players. Yes, you split that 3 ways among FSU, UF and Miami, but it's still more than enough to fill a signing class of 25 with superior talent.
At both places you are compared to a legendary HC. The difference is that the legendary FSU coach is retired and was slipping in his old age before he did. The legendary LSU coach (Saban) is still in the process of beating LSU on a yearly basis.
Right now a HC probably has more job security at FSU than LSU. BOTH fan bases expect their coach to compete for the national title each year. They don't care that it may be tougher to do so in one conf. (SEC) vs. another (ACC). Playing tougher opponents is not an excuse for failure for LSU fans
They both have their strong points. It's just what matters most to each individual coach.

If it's about winning there isn't a big difference. Saying one is a lot better than this other isn't true when it comes to winning.

Lsu is arguably a top 5 job. The obl6y hindrance is toughness of the yearly schedule.
The only jobs that i would say with out a doubt are better is Bama, USC, and Texas.

The new LSU coach will make more than both Les and Fisher currently. It will probably be Fisher making 7 mil

FSU is a great job and could be argued top 5. I have no problem with that statement. I feel LSU is better but it's impossible to take of p&g glasses.

They don't have the luxury of being one of the few programs to be on tv every week. There are college kids that have never seen notre Dame win a title. College recruits like playing for conf titles.
Notre Dame isn't as good of a job as it was 25 or 30 years ago.

Speaking of talent, here are the in-state comparisons of talent between Louisiana and Florida for the Class of 2017:
Louisiana
Florida
So in the 247 Composite Rankings (which incorporates rankings from 247, Rivals, Scout and ESPN) the state of Louisiana has zero 5-stars and twelve 4-stars.
The state of Florida has five 5-stars and forty-one 4-stars.
Even if you take into consideration the likelihood of sharing those kids with Miami and Florida, Florida State still grabs better in-state talent than LSU.

Really similar programs. Very close. Being able to cherry pick a talent rich state like Louisiana is probably offset by being in such a brutal division. Florida has a ton of talent but you're sharing it with FL, Miami, and then out of state schools like LSU who always seem to sneak in there and pull some great players.
It's a toss up really. I think it comes down to being in an easier conference at FSU. Just look at their division.
