He’s allegedly viewed by some in the government good ol boy club as an option if they miss on others since he’s “one of us” and has learned under Saban and Kiffin.

Again, I’m not claiming insider knowledge but I know lawyers, lobbyists and politicos that run and work in those circles.

More idiocy from Pate. Why does this guy get posted so much? He is clueless.

Next LSU football coach will be Kiffin or Saban

None if this BS will end up stopping us from getting who we want.

Kiffin being in the playoffs might. But those coaches have agents that will explain how all that is happening is posturing. It will not stop a coach that wants to come to LSU from coming.

I mean can we all admit this is kind of getting ridiculous that we can’t handle all of our business behind the scenes without it spilling into the media?. I’m embarrassed as an LSU fan. I have no idea if this deters all coaches but I’m sure some coaches will be turned off by this. If we have cause, we need to declare it or pay the man his money as we are contractually obligated to.

The university had no problem paying Les Miles and even Ed Orgeron after his off the field antics.

10 million dollars to Les and 16 million to EdO were considerably smaller than 53 million to BK. Hence we paid without any issue.

It's the amount "intelligent one"

Brian Kelly was lazy is a very subjective call. Nobody survives this long in division 1 hc job being lazy....not one with Kelly's record even at LSU with 70% win percentage.

The problem with Kelly at BR was he did not culturally fit at a time when culture has become a part and parcel of our lives.

But we knew he was from Boston, he coached in the upper mid west and at the hallowed cathedral of education at Notre Dame. He would not fit here culturally like EdO did.

Even without the culture factor, offering a 60 year old a 10 year contract, no matter how good he is is a bad idea. He might try to win a natty but after a while age will become a factor and he might give up....which was what was close to happening.

Why did we hire him. Ok Woodward did it. But Woodward and Tate could not have done this without TAF and big money boosters approving of it. After all they were the ones that would be paying for most of his salary.

The hiring and the contract was on LSU. The impulsive firing was on LSU. Firing without reviewing the full financial implication was on LSU.

Then comes the timing of the firing...at a time we did not have a sitting president....then post firing we fire an established AD who has made two very good hires apart from Kelly...so we are left with a president and an AD. So then we get a president and then we are forced to promote someone to AD in haste. He is a good man and will in all likely make a great AD but we do not know that for sure.....that sir is on LSU as well.

This leads me to believe what Pate is saying...which sucks, but it's true.

I fully believe it is true.

No doubt LSU reached out to Nick Saban and Kiffin and both probably said no.

Problem is they have no fricking clue what to do next.

Afraid this will be a Brian Kelly 2.0 situation. They struck out on Riley and Fisher last cycle and overpaid for BK.

Instead of swallowing their pride and offering Jon Sumrall or someone of the like the job, they will probably go and overpay for a proven commodity.

Thinking someone like Manny Diaz

Diaz would be a total disaster. Duke has gotten way worse since Elko left.

Why does this guy get posted so much?

This is my question. I never even heard of him until this season, and that's only because Moscona likes him and talks to him.

Some of Pate's opinions get posted here as if he's college football's Adam Schefter, but he seems like just another random guy with a mic.

My God, Pate is very hooked up to the college football world and in the south big time, has a very popular show, and so no doubt folks reach out to him with info they like to get out.. Noticed when BK was fired, Pate threw him uder the bus, had nothing good to say about him, so then he was telling the truth, but now he is lying.. I don't agree with Pate all the time but seems he played pretty fair on LSU matters...

I like Pate but his show has turned into a constant Pate propaganda segment. I know this. I go to the best game every week. I have new merch. I’m loyal to my sponsor QuikTrip. I’m the future commissioner of CFB. I was at practice this summer. I have connections into that program. Several coaches texted me after their game. We get it man. You’re doing great, but let’s talk ball…

All of this. I used to regularly watch him or at least his podcast the next day. I quit watching when he started bragging about all the connections he claims to have.
