LSU is going to skull drag Ole Miss this weekend. The Tigers get the run game going and pummel their QB.

lane started off well enough at sc, but the year he fired he had 50 players on scholarship.

Lane started off well because he took over the program built by Pete Carroll.

USC had plenty of scholarships and talent with Kiffin took over, and he still couldn't beat Stanford with Harbaugh or Shaw. 0 wins.

lane got fired for telling higher ups to pound sand

Lane got fired for taking the preseason No. 1 team in the country, and losing embarrassingly multiple times. If Lane was winning, no one would fire him for being a jerk.

The upside to Lane is you will always have a fun and exciting offense with a good QB. I just wonder how good he is at organizing and overseeing a team. You would need a top DC and someone with lots of experience to be an assistant HC to run things in the background.

I know it was 10 years ago but I can't unsee that 2012 USC team. They looked so bad and disorganized and they were loaded.

Jeremy Pruitt, a good friend of Lanes.

Kiffin was a lame-duck OC. He had already accepted the job at FAU. Saban relieved him of his duties b/c Kiffin was trying to do both jobs at once.

It's not Lane's fault the media overrated USC again. At the time, these boards were laughing at that ranking because everybody knew they had no depth. Even one of the preseason magazines (maybe Athlon) said that they were a question mark beyond their starting 22.

And at Orgeron immediately improving them. As an interim, he lost their two biggest games. USC shockingly wasn't retarded enough to hire him permanently like we did for doing the same thing.

Exactly why he won't get the job.

Lane about to audition this weekend . You get the feeling he wants to score 100.

May be a dumb question but, assuming Woodward doesn't have his guy yet, will the Ole Miss game play a part in whether he gets hired or not?

Every game plays a small part. This game would probably do LK more harm than good. Who wants a coach that got beat by Ed O with a half injured team and after he was fired?

If Kiffin really wants this job, expect Ole Miss to be clicking on all cylinders Saturday.

Am I the only one who's just now learning that Josh Booty spent any time with the Raiders in 2007?

Orgeron just beat ranked Florida in back-to-back years with 50 scholarship players and zero depth on defense. Hahahaha!

“Well I think who I want, it would be an offensive guy because I'm a former quarterback,” Booty said. “I want to see the ball thrown. I love watching Lane Kiffin. LSU is going to get an up close and personal look at Kiffin this week because they play Ole Miss. Lane, of course, was good friends with Orgeron. He knows the Southeastern Conference well too. He's recruited in Louisiana and Mississippi the last few seasons. He was in Tennessee before. That was a big win for them last week. He is, I know, one of the top three or four candidates for the job.

“I like Kiffin. He coached my brother USC, I played for him when I was with the Raiders behind Jamarcus Russell. It would be fun to see him … and all his antics there. He's got that Spurrier type of antic feel to himself and I think with the LSU players and the strength of the types of players that we can recruit and get out of the state of Louisiana just in itself.
