“Well I think who I want, it would be an offensive guy because I'm a former quarterback,” Booty said. “I want to see the ball thrown. I love watching Lane Kiffin. LSU is going to get an up close and personal look at Kiffin this week because they play Ole Miss. Lane, of course, was good friends with Orgeron. He knows the Southeastern Conference well too. He's recruited in Louisiana and Mississippi the last few seasons. He was in Tennessee before. That was a big win for them last week. He is, I know, one of the top three or four candidates for the job.

“I like Kiffin. He coached my brother USC, I played for him when I was with the Raiders behind Jamarcus Russell. It would be fun to see him … and all his antics there. He's got that Spurrier type of antic feel to himself and I think with the LSU players and the strength of the types of players that we can recruit and get out of the state of Louisiana just in itself.

Kiffin would be a great hire. He does have some Spurrier in him, but that doesn't make him a bad guy like some people are saying. No way would Saban have put up with Lane if he was a detriment to the team. Kiffin plus the fertile LSU recruiting base would be a winner in my opinion.

Kiffin is probably a better hire than franklin.

I know I'd rather kiffin over franklin.

That’s just ridiculous. Kiffin had better resources at USC than James at Penn State yet he couldn’t produce.

I couldn't care less who Josh Booty wants.

And when discussing a football coach, one of the first things he mentions is his "antics".... I see trouble ahead.

Kiffin is a child and a wild card. You don't know what kind of off the field issues will arise or what he's going to say or do. Or when and if he'll bolt overnight for a better opportunity.

Not to mention he's had zero success as a head coach. None. Yet because he served as Saban's OC for a few years, suddenly he's a hot commodity.

I truly doubt Kiffin is in Woodward's top 5 given the history of character issues.

Yeah let's just ignore the fact that he was dealing with pretty harsh sanctions while at USC due to the Reggie Bush situation. That program still hasn't recovered.

Other than being given head coaching jobs when he was too young and not ready for them yet and bolting Tennessee for an obvious job that he cherished, what kinda bad arse stuff has he done?

Except for the fact that Kiffin went into the 2012 season with the preseason No. 1 team, with Matt Barkley at QB and Heisman front runner, and NFL talent throughout the lineup, and finished the season 7-5. I think they beat one ranked team - Hawaii.

USC sucked in 2012 because of poor coaching, not because of sanctions. The program was still pulling in top 5 recuriting classes and had plenty of talent.

Lsu doesn't need anyone who is "good friends" with Orgeron.

I riley like the way you phrased that.

Ironically, Ed Orgeron took over at USC after Kiffin lost embarrassingly to ASU, and the team immediately improved. How can that be blamed on sanctions? The next year, Sark took over, and the program improved even more.

I guess Orgeron and Sark don't use sanctions as excuses, but Kiffin does.

My thing with Kiffin is IMO he will never compete for championships unless we bring in a top DC

Who would be that guy?

I would love for Kiffin to be interviewed before the game and he takes off his ole miss shirt with an lsu shirt underneath...drop the mic and run across to our sideline

lane started off well enough at sc, but the year he fired he had 50 players on scholarship.

lane got fired for telling higher ups to pound sand. he had a bad attitude.
