I am too, Chavis' resume before LSU had a hell of a lot more elite units mixed in w/ the avg than Krag's
The truth is that you would be on here complaining about this hire no matter who was selected. Your consistent attacks on Chavis prove that.
I don't think Kragthorpe is a sure fire success. But I am smart enough to know that there are things I will not be able to evaluate until he gets here.
AND, most importantly, I recognize that the single biggest factor of success at LSU is what LSU brings to the table. I don't care if he was unable to build/sustain Louisville as a head coach. I care whether or not he is able to utilize the talent at LSU and put a well executing offensive unit on the field.
Miles is doing what he thinks is best for the program. I have no doubt about that. He will be judged on this hire and rightfully so.

Had it been a HR hire I would give credit. Not when it's mediocre and not gonna start ignoring the coach's history. Chavis had up and down history at tenn I gave credit to him this yr how's that fit with ur theory?

He had a lot of mediocre mixed in his past but way more elite units than krag ever had

Better than Krags at Tulsa
krag took over a tulsa team that won TWO ball games. And you're comparing a back to back b.c.s. team/top 20 program for the last 10 years to what he took over?
you should be happy tulsa improved after him. it means he left something to work with.

I wish everyone would realize this.
if coaches weren't given second chances, you'd have nothing.
shite Sean Payton was basically ran out of New York. And i havent seen an offensive play caller as good as him in the last 10 years or so.
coaches fail all the time. Good ones adjust. Who is to say Kragthorpe doesnt fit that bill?

I'm late to this party and this underwhelming. Our offense is putrid and we want a big question mark to be the answer. I just don't get it.

It shouldn't have to be a home run hire for you not to criticize. That's a crazy standard. And, if you were simply voicing concerns and asking questions, I'd actually be pretty close to where you are on this hire.
But, you are taking it much further than that. You are actually criticizing the hire when that is also not warranted. This is a hire that we are going to have to see play out. There are reasons to believe he may be very successful. And, reasons to believe this may not work out.

Well, you certainly didn't give much credit after he rebuilt the defense in a single year last year...and you were bashing early in the year this year. I'm glad to see you have come around. A fairer approach would have been to sit back and watch Chavis do his job and continually acknowledge the improvements he made along the way.
But, you are VERY quick to come to a decision when it comes to Miles. And, you always seem to lean negative. You aren't willing to acknowledge that some things are complicated enough that you have to see how things play out a little bit before you take a firm stance. Honestly, it is not the most intelligent approach.
Personally, I wouldn't want to take a stand on this hire right now. I take it for what it is, and I'll give a firm opinion when I see what happens moving forward.
Today, I'll say it is not a home run hire, and not a sure thing that he'll be successful. But, I'm optimistic, with what LSU brings to the table, he will be able to make a big positive impact on this offense.

about as stupid as you thinking we had a passing game in 2008 that led Charles Scott to better #'s than Ridley.
or assuming that Kragthorpe had talent to develop on those A&M teams.
you do seem to trash every coach mentioned over the last few years.

Correct was asked to find another job...Crowton was not recruiting and was the only coach not to have any recruits under his name on the recruiting board at football operation center way before Maryland interview.

I may be the only one, but I like the hire.
Time will tell.

Bottom line: There are a lot of people here that think they know football, but are really just dumb shits.

Who the hell is this guy and what does he know? Maybe Miles is waiting on a NFL coach from one the final 4?

Expect Kragthorpe!
I spoke to a buddy in Tulsa OK today.. He knows
Steve Kragthorpe from his days in Tulsa. Moreover, my buddy has recently spoken to someone inside LSU...I better not say anymore than that..
when I asked about the negative stuff from Louisville:
He replied:
Kragthorpe walked into a bad situation at Louisville with the type of recruits Petrino left behind. (Players with little character).
Timing is everything I suppose
He added that Kragthorpe is a great coach, great character guy, and can really coach up an offense...and said Tiger fans will be pleased with SK
TIFWIW..
