and adding a great OC would have built it even more, more so than this recruiting class
Books, do you really think putting in new terminology, new play book etc wouldn't cause a brief step back?
I know that a big name would have gotten us a WOW but would it = win now?

would've been awesome to have a decent offense at lsu the last couple of seasons.

so he's apparently not much of a recruiter if he had so little talent at a&m or didn't develop many of those guys into NFL caliber players. A&M wasn't terrible back then either
he was only 3 there years. He didnt even cycle through a recruiting class.
his offenses weren't bad at A&M considering the talent.
That was a decade ago though. It's really not even relevant.
check out some of the guys he had on those offenses. No one really stands out except Dante Hall.
A&M stats by years

The talent situation goes both ways regarding his stint at Tulsa
and the numbers I see reflect pretty damn good offenses.
I can find negatives about any candidates.

I'm not sure, Fuente for damn sure. Several NFL guys would likely have been interested. Monken. You really think LSU was scraping the bottom for potential OCs? Detillier said as much. Kragthorpe coudn't even get an interview at Tulsa and is out of coaching

He had some decent offenses at Tulsa that got significantly better after he left

I agree with you except for one thing. I don't think GC was getting it done coaching the qbs. Meaning Les is going to set the offensive tone but I think we haven't gotten qb development is all.
I'm not exonerating Les just that maybe he gave GC one year too many to coach up JJ and JL

it doesn't matter who or when you hire someone. all big name coaches were a no name at some point.
there will be people that call krag a re-tread, yet people admire al borges. a re-tread.
all coaches have up and down years because it's based on the talent they have to run their style. if you have a really good qb and a strong o-line, you're going to have success. if you don't, you wont.
this is why it is important to find a guy that can recruit to his style.

quote:34 y/o co-offensive coordinator. i'm curious what his stats will be in a BCS conference (even if it is the big east) next year w/ a new QB; pretty sure they lose a ton more on offense too.
Fuente for damn sure

Better than Krags at Tulsa
he has alot more talent at TCU to work with as well.

he does, he helped develop a lot of it

I'm just hoping Books is as wrong about this hire as he was about Chavis.
Posted on 1/19/11 at 2:49 pm to moneyg
I am too, Chavis' resume before LSU had a hell of a lot more elite units mixed in w/ the avg than Krag's

agian, i think the final numbers are pretty good considering the average talent

I don't remember much from those teams a decade ago, but I do not buy that he was short on talent being at a top 25 team right in the heart of a shite load of talent.

i posted the year by year stats. Go back and look at them. The offensive talent was underwhelming to say the least. He had Dante Hall for 1 year, and Robert Ferguson/Bethel Johnson at WR, both who played in NFL. His RB's were nobodies, as were the QBs. Dont keep saying "the talent should have been good". Go look, it wasnt
