Depends. I think a lot of OC's would insist upon bringing in their own assistants. That wasn't going to happen.

your first mistake was starting this thread with Jimmy Ott says. Never ever repeat what Jimmy Ott says.

Yeah, he repeats himself to much on the air already.

Ott also said Crowton was "fired"
and also broke the hiring of Miles, the staying of miles etc
And the hiring of Saban.

well, he has been itching for someone to get knee-deep in Texas for recruiting purposes...shouldn't Krag have ties from his Tulsa days?

I actually don't mind Kragthorpe. It's not a homerun hire, but the guy should be solid and is more of a QB coach than LSU has had in a long time. I'd much prefer this over the promotion of anyone currently on staff.

Don't kid yourself. Crowton "resigned" in name only. He was definitely told to look elsewhere for employment which means he was basically fired.

I was hoping for Fuente, but Kragthorpe was a hot commodity at one time. Maybe he gets his swag back.

I was gonna' say, with the talent we have how couldn't he? But then I remembered recent history.

SO is this kind of un-official news? Or is Jimmy talking out of his arse and we should hold off?

more like a sac-bunt IMO. fans may not always agree with the call, but, sometimes it's the right one
who really goes for a sac fly to move a runner from 1st

I don't agree. I think looking at this team Les, correctly thinks, that QB progression and slight better WR/OL play and we are playing for the national title.
A "homerun" hire would mean big changes, terminology etc, and that's not a win now solution.

not necessarily. Harsin would have been a homerun hire, for example. But he wasn't available. Krags is a 'safe pick' I think, and i'm perfectly okay with that as long as he doesn't get a long arse contract

True bmy, I was just saying, I'm not sure he was even considering homerun.
I think we all agree Les was big in play calling. However, I don't think Les played any role in qb coaching. That said, was it more play calling or lack of qb developement?
I gotta believe we call things different with more faith in our qb's. That would point to a qb coach.
