I gotta believe we call things different with more faith in our qb's. That would point to a qb coach.

this would be right up Miles' alley. underwhelming when given a chance to get momentum going

well we didn't hit a home run, we just got on base with a dropped third strike...solid hire nothing special but solid
That's a bad analogy if you still think it's a solid hire. You could say it was a single base hit, but to say it was a dropped third strike is like saying we are barely getting by with this guy.

i really wanted to like Krags, but i looked up his numbers expecting to see some gaudy Texas Tech or Hawaii type stats. Suffice to say that is not the case.

As OC at Texas AM

1999
scoring offense: 30ppg (39th)
total offense 374ypg (58th)

2000
scoring offense: 28ppg (46th)
total offense: 328ypg (49th)

As head coach at Tulsa

2003
scoring offense: 31ppg (28th)
total offense: 387ypg (51st)

2004
scoring offense: 29ppg (40th)
total offense: 356ypg (73rd)

2005
scoring offense: 33ppg (23rd)
total offense: 402ypg (39th)

2006
scoring offense: 28ppg (37th)
total offense: 388ypg (24th)

this is basically what Crowton did this year, and we ran him out of town.

he's mediocre as an OC; there's really no arguing that. Lot of fans are fine w/ mediocre though

after the offense we have had the last few years i would be more than happy with an offense ranked in the 20s and 30s. plus krags was doing it at tulsa, while crowton was doing it at lsu, slight difference in atheletes at the 2 schools.

I don't see 100+ in any of the rankings.

LSU was 86 in total offense dude. If it wasn't for the defense and special teams our scoring offense would have much worse than 45th of whatever it was

those numbers for Kragthorpe arent that bad. Generally in the top 30-40 in the nation in offense at schools without much talent.

numbers only tell part of the story, and im afraid if that is all you look at, you are going to be misled. You to take into account talent, opponents, defense/special teams, etc.

even at A&M, can you name some of his players?

I'll help you. His QB's sucked(ever hear of Randy McNown or Mark Farris?). None of his RB's played in the NFL. His WR's were meh.

wasnt exactly playing with a full cupboard. Now look at those #'s. Pretty respectable.

You gotta factor in the team he did it with, versus the team Crowton got the 86-112 rankings with. We are LSU. That was aTm and Tulsa. It would appear that Kragthorpe got more out of less than Crowton did.

You people crack me up. 2 months ago this board was ready to run Miles out of town with Crowton, then 2 weeks ago they were fricking out because they thought Miles was leaving for Michigan. Now look at you already back to hatting on him in his OC decision that has'nt even been confirmed. My hat is off to the man that don't pay much of attention to his team's fans. Pure bread cry babies. The most negitive site in sports.

11-2 with a dominating bowl win + a killer recruiting class isn't momentum?

or is he just a better head coach than you and is making a change without a complete overhaul?

so he's apparently not much of a recruiter if he had so little talent at a&m or didn't develop many of those guys into NFL caliber players. A&M wasn't terrible back then either, while LSU was; should have been plenty of available talent. The talent situation goes both ways regarding his stint at Tulsa

and adding a great OC would have built it even more, more so than this recruiting class

Miles had a chance to hit a home run, and he went for the sac fly to move the runner from first.

It's an underwhelming hire.

Not a sac fly unless the runner scores

you dont think I know this? LSU needs a TX recruiter. It's not a great hire on the coaching or recruiting side, so what's he bring? nothing stands out on his resume other than some decent offenses.

rankings come and go, I was looking at the numbers.

in those 6 years, Krag averaged 372 ypg and 30 ppg.

this year Crowton averaged 341 ypg and 30 ppg.

look, dont get me wrong, I like Miles, Ive always liked Miles, I have faith in him, and Im one of the very few who didnt despise Crowton (im ok that hes gone but i just cant ignore 2007), i was just hoping for some jaw dropping offense and for whatever reason, this isnt it.

id actually prefer BG at OC and Krag at QBC, but again, I have faith in Miles.
