remember when JBE first took office and then demanded TV primetime to tell us that he might shut down LSU football if he didnt get tax raises... which was a huge lie, all to prey on the fan's fears... what a jerk. No love for him.

Oh, I remember. It's better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Screw that guy. If the threatens to shut LSU Football down he shouldn’t be allowed to enjoy any of the perks and benefits of the program. How did that clown get re-elected? Hey JBE stay out of LSU Football.
Edwards was on the team flight to the Tennessee game, and he sat in the LSU group at the Heisman ceremony.

Honestly, it's probably not a bad idea to let the politicians somewhat (just a crack) into the door. Gets them involved/excited about the program which in turn benefits things like recruiting.

Saban and Miles kept the politicians at arms's length,
Miles had a Republican governor for most of his time.
And I don't know if you know this or not, but the vast majority of 4 and 5 star athletes are not Republican.
Pretty shrewd move if you ask me. Don't give your opponents anything they can use to recruit against you.

Yeah I am all for Republican governors being apart of the program. Democrat not so much

Isn't this the same governor that threatened to cancel the season?
yep
Not really, TOLD the LEGISLATURE that if they didn't provide more funds for LSU in their budget, the Chancellor would have to cancel CLASSES until there was enough funding to re-open. The legislature approved the money for LSU forthwith.
At NO TIME was LSU not going to be open in the fall. But boy, it sure got a bunch of snowflakes melting.

frick JBE, he threatened to shut down the football program and the university. How’s that help the program?

they know where to find missing votes and extra votes left from the DNC.

Of course it was an empty threat, but I can promise you SEC Coaches used it against us in recruiting.

Locking the deal up today from what I just heard.

How does he help the program?
By threatening to cut LSU football. That is JBE version of supporting the program.

Couldn’t agree more. Honor Choade needs to STFU about anything having to do with LSU football after using it as a hostage for jamming his tax increases for.
Can not believe that idiot got re-elected

JBE can't keep secret. He's telling people at the Mayor's conference it's Pelini
It’s a sad day when neighboring Mississippi is sky rocketing in education and overall economy and Louisiana is tanking.

Piss off your number one industry in the state and that has a tendency to happen.

Complete BS. Gov. Foster gave assurances to Emmert that his controlling members of the BOS would support the hiring of Nick Saban from MSU. It's common knowledge that Les Miles and Gov Bobby JIndal had dinners quite often together around Baton Rouge. JBE isn't doing anything that prior governors of both parties have not done.

Complete falsehood, but you just keep drinking that Kool-Aid. After 8 years of Jindal's gutting of higher education the state was facing huge budget shortfall. Edwards warned that state-wide all college campuses were in danger of running out of funds and would have to close down. The closing down of a university meant none of them would be fielding any sports teams/games. It wasn't a threat to LSU football, it was a threat to the entire university and other universities across the state. The republican legislature could either fund higher education or allow budget cuts to occur that would lead to their closure.
quote:
I will also tell you about cuts we are facing that, without your support to fix, will close down higher education institutions all across our state.
quote:
As I mentioned earlier, if the legislature fails to act and we are forced to proceed with these cuts, the LSU Ag Center and parish extension offices in every parish, and Pennington Biomedical Research Center will close by April 1st and the LSU main campus in Baton Rouge will run out of money after April 30th, as will the Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and LSU Eunice.
