It must be difficult being a Houston fan right now. They must know at least one big program is going to come calling for their coach, and they must know the Houston program really can't do much to match that upcoming offer(s). If an LSU, a USCe, a Texas, a ND comes along, he's gone.
Clearly any program can lose a Coach to greener pastures at some point, but it must really suck to know your school cannot play hard ball with the programs that are bound to come calling. If a school came after a coach at any of the major programs, those programs could match the offer and be competitive... Houston can't.

There are hardly any to speak of. That's the problem. UH has a 40,000 seat stadium that they can't fill for a Top 10 team in a metro area of over 6,000,000 people. They don't matter to their own city.

I mean, look at this. This is the crowd they are able to pull, in the 4th largest city in America (look at that skyline!), to a 40,000 seat stadium while ranked #6 in the country with their coach potentially getting offers from LSU, USC and Texas by year's end.
If they HAD fans, they MIGHT be able to keep him. But nobody of his talent is going to put up with this as "thanks" for getting their school ranked.

If that picture was taken after half time then they are more loyal than LSU fans. That's 70% of the stadium filled. We are rocking about 50% after half time. 25% by the start of the 4th.

They are really delusional. They think Tilman Fertitta is going to keep Herman here forever. You would think they would be used to it by now but no. They legit think Herman is here to stay.

It was like that at kickoff. It is odd that Houston cant find 40k people to watch a game there.

Houston is a transplant city. There are more TAMU fans here than UH fans. Plus the stadium is in a remote location (by Hobby airport) and traffic is a bitch to get there. The city of Houston does follow UH for the most part though.

Look at it like this. Saban held us hostage for two miserable grueling torturous weeks. These Houston clowns will be held prisoner for at least two months!!! Bwahahahahah. They'll have nervous breakdowns before his announcement. He's gone just a matter of when now. Somewhere else. Hopefully we say

All good points. Just sucks for the ones that do care because they know he's pretty much gone.

They think Fertita's mafia arse matching other schools for salary is enough to keep Herman while completely ignoring the very real ego-factor that drives coaches to want to be adored by an enormous, berserk fan base of a storied program and play big games every week. MAYBE if UH could make the B12. Maybe. In that scenario, he could compete for natties in a real conference and pocket Fertita's money. But, OU announced earlier this week that they won't vote for UH and TCU said the same last night or this morning, so it's looking like that ship has sailed.

LSU stadium @ 70% = 71.4K
UH stadium @ 50% = 20K

Ehh. UH has poured a ton of money into that program and a bunch has come straight from the University. The program has been losing money and going over budget. At some point they are going to hit a breaking point. Looks to be fairly soon depending on if they dont get in the Big12

He may not but it isn't necessarily a Houston vs LSU thing. If LSU doesn't give him the kind of offer he wants he can be patient, stay there, and wait for someone who will (and someone will relatively soon).

That's kind of how it felt in 2003 & 2004. It just seemed inevitable that Saban was going somewhere. The only question was where and when.

UH is really a commuter school. Not a campus destination like anywhere in SEC. They really don't have a long culture of campus football activities like other places
