I understand most of you don't follow big ten closely.
To summarize: mark dantonio left msu in arguably worse shape than the program he inherited. recruiting had fallen off a cliff. MSU was bringing in bottom 3 classes out of all big ten teams for last couple years of his time there. Mel inherited a team that wouldn't have even competed for 1st place in the MAC. that's how bad and low the talent level was. On par with rutgers and illinois.
Mel had a rough, rough first recruiting class, too. So what he did do? He pulled out all the stops in the transfer portal. Picked up castaways from places like auburn, wake forest, etc.
Nearly all of the major players on this msu team are transfer portalers.
So, when you say "msu hasn't played anyone", just remember they were supposed to be a team this year that was going to be a cupcake for 90%+ of big ten teams.
The next LSU coach is going to need to hit the portal hard to solve immediate OL needs. Mel has shown he can do well reeling in transfers. That would be a huge benefit for lsu.

For the record, I love LSU, not a fan of Mel Tucker being the coach here. Nothing more nothing less.
But who am I?
But who am I?

He has no merit period

They’ll finish the season a mediocre 8-4. Stop trying to kiss president Tates arse

Would be beyond meh.
Also, he very well could wind up unranked.

Tucker would be a solid hire.

So just because they outperformed the media expectations they’re a “solid” program and Mel is worthy of coaching at LSU? Yeah shut up

So what?
I’d rather not hire someone who lost 4 games in the Big 10 the previous season.

Let's see what he does against OsU and Michigan first but I also think I'd like to see consistent repeated success. Which I want to see from Aranda as well
Both would be great DC minded coaches but both are super risky because there is ZERO consistent success they could flash out immediately as hires.

So exciting! The guy got some transfer portal guys and is 7-0 with a schedule that LSU would be 7-0 with also.

By who? Preseason rankings? So what.
His best season and he may still wind up unranked. Let the season play out.
LSU should have no issue with recruiting or the transfer portal, especially if they hire a more proven coach.

How are you not banned from this site?

LSU would be undefeated (with probably a larger margin of victory) if we played MSU’s schedule.
Beating cupcakes isn’t impressive I don’t care who you do it with.

MSu is about to lose to Penn State, Ohio State, Purdue, and Michigan... Close call with Maryland. MSU is grossly overranked.

They will probably go 1-3 but how they show up will really determine their stock. If they are competitive or at least play well for most of them, then at least a sign of progress.
