I don’t think anyone inside the inner circle are saying shite, so no insiders on here or anywhere will have anything to say. Basically, nobody knows shite. We’re just going to have to wait.

Sean Payton not wanting this to be an unnecessary distraction with 3 games left play could be a pretty big reason

Yeah, he's doing great things. He made 1 good hire his entire tenure here the rest have been mostly bad hires. We just had a historically awful season you realize that right?

Call it for what it is. The dude got lucky with Burrow and Brady. Everything else points to supporting he's just not a good coach. He was awful at Ole Miss and much of the same problems that plagued him there are rearing their ugly head here. He has plenty of "bad" hires to back this up.

For a guy who fricks up a lot in hiring and isn't a good X and Os guy...he sure does get a lot of rope to get them to write blank checks to new coaches every year. What is he here for then? To rah rah on the sidelines and recruit? He's a good recruiter but his roster management leaves a lot to be desired as evidenced by the holes in positions he's not filling in a timely fashion. Something Miles was always good at was he identified weak roster spots and tried to fill the needs every class.

O is too flawed of a coach to be given rope to keep messing up coaching hires. I don't see him lasting at LSU more than a few more years. it's never healthy when a HC has to rely on assistants to save his arse much like Miles did. At some point he's going to hit that wall which is already creeping up on O.

D985 yoyu only must truly hate coach O.Everything so negitive . you are one of Nicks catastrophy syndrome guys. I hope one day you will see what kind of job O is doing and enjoy LSU football and let thing play out as they will and I promise you this coach is building a program and not a team. This ain`t a fast food fix. You act as if O is the coach who is having trouble finding fits for his program.Take a look next door in Texas and other schools.Do you think CUM is a good coach, look at who might be his OC.Yet O was an idiot for hiring him. I just guess haters gonna hate.

Neilson is NOT the next DC. He wants to remain in the NFL.

Interesting...both the new OC and the DC will be first timers.

Also talk now Nielsen is going to be considered for the Lions DC position once Dan Campbell is hired.

Maybe he's just having a hard time finding anyone that wants the job? Like Sarkisian at Texas - gone through six candidates already that have said no thanks

Is it deuce or douche? I perfer douche. O took a bunch of average Miles recruits after 3 games into the 2016 season and went 6-2. Not only that many of Miles recruits departed after Miles was fired. O won steadily getting better resulting in a NC and one of the best if not the best college football teams ever. He is 4-1 in bowl games and had a top 5 recruiting class this year and his 2022 class is in the top 3. We have 3 stud QB's returning along with 90% of the defense the whole O line and great WR's returning.

If anyone is flawed it's you douche for brains.

This is a great article with background information about Nielson and what he has accomplished as a college and pro football coach.

Miles had the greatest 10 year stretch in program history, and O just put together the greatest season ever in college. But not good enough for this “expert”, they should have done it his way.

Yea remember that time we had more kickers than LBs on our roster or how about the year when 2 true freshman DTs had to play 80% of the snaps
Or how about all those great OTs Miles had on the roster

Who in the living hell would want to be DC of the fricking detroit lions.

That teams has been a hot mess mess for about 2 decades now.

Being the DC for the detroit lions is a losing proposition all around and most likely a career killer.

He's a D line coach. I don't think him taking the job after the season would be a big thing for professionals.

Someone said the other day that nfl coaches can't accept new jobs while they're still actively coaching in a season. I don't know the rules on that but it would make sense considering Michigan didn't announce their DC until today after the Ravens lost yesterday.

He won’t be able to wait until after the SB for him. I would think he will have to have his in the fold within the next week, or so as they have NSD to finalize and a defense and defensive staff to finalize before spring meetings and practice begins. No way he waits until after SB, the second week in Feb.

Anyone looking to advance their career. It's entirely new management and he'd be working for someone he knows well. He's not going to take a college DC job if the Lions job is offered.

The super bowl is not that far away at this point. Hiring after the super bowl wouldn't impact spring practice.

As far as NSD goes I am not sure there are any targets out there that are waiting on us to name a coach. R. Davis claims he is but I don't believe it tbh.

I think you can wait and be fine, but that's assuming you get your target. Still not even a guarantee he can pull Nielsen
