Is Napier a good recruiter?

I know he knows how to run and build a program which is great, and he’s and offensive minded coach, but will he be able to recruit at an elite level here? He’s had I think 3 #1 classes in the sunbelt and LSU semi recruits itself, but he’ll have to do work on his part too.

Only if you consider Alabama on an elite level

I'd like to see if he can recruit nationallly. LSU should recruit itself with Louisiana recruits but the stud Oline and Dline come from out of state same with QBs. We get rare 5* QBs and OL but the bulk are out of state.

He will Lock down the state.

I've only ever heard someone brag about this within the last couple of weeks.

Look at ULs recruiting rankings over the past 3 seasons. It tells the story for you.
UL went from 3-4 3 star prospects to having entire classes of 3 stars. Now, to LSU fans, that sounds ridiculous because we're used to consistently having top 5 recruiting classes. But when you consider what UL was vs what they are now, it's fricking impressive. Plus, he apparently loves recruiting, which usually makes for really good recruiters.

He is as good as LSU will ever hire and has proven he can also develop players and a program.
I hope LSU breaks the mold and goes after Napier and let LSU have the next great young coach, like other schools have done successfully. We just might keep him around for 25 years. Wouldn't that be a nice change.

If we're talking about his time at Alabama and people using that to call him an elite recruiter, take a look at the recruiting classes before he was there and after he left.....there's really not that much of a difference. The worst class they've had in the past decade was 5. He was there for three years
. It's hard to say how good he is based on his time at Bama, because they've had #1 classes regardless of who was there.

Of course not, it’s still Alabama. That said, our losses in NE Louisiana (Cam Robinson, etc.) are as much due to Napier as Miles’ neglect.

Not one single person that posts here is qualified to evaluate a coaching prospect. It's all about posters picking one name over another based on something he saw on the interwebs. Let SW do his job. Nobody in here knows if Napier will make a good or bad hire.

Very elite recruiter.
Seems like a solid program builder and manager.
Very average OC and gameday coach, so I wouldn't want him unless he agrees to modernize the offense and relinquish play calling.

It was a long time ago so my memory might not be the best on that, but it seems like Cam had a vibe of he was never coming to LSU anyway. I could be wrong on that one though.

“ I enjoy that just as much as game day.” Billy Napier on the recruiting trail, says it’s one of his favorite things to do. @coach_bnapier
at least he likes to do it

Tell me you literally know nothing about Napier without saying you know nothing about Napier.

He is an absolute beast of a recruiter. Even people that don’t like him cannot argue that.

Napier himself says he enjoys recruiting just as much as the game itself. Honestly the more I hear him, the more I want him to be the guy.

Considering its the Sun Belt, his competition and the fact that 4 star and 5 star kids arent falling over backwords to attend UL-L, Id say Yes, he's a decent recruiter with what he's got to work with.

Imagine all of that 3 star talent, and beating Arkansas State by 1 point. Thats great coaching.
