I think Dabo and Steele are pretty tight, but you never know. I would think Dooley and Lance Thompson may be buds from the LSU days...I'll check out my sources this weekend

To me he's more qualified for the Job than Kiffin was.

kiffin's selling point was bringing his HOF dad to coach the D up and bring in a staff of ace recruiters.

the national media appears to be letting him ride the saban coattails right now, so who knows maybe that'll work.

does muschamp have anything more?? I guess he was a grad assistant for Bill Oliver, but I'm not sure that out-trumps being the son of Vince Dooley

His success at Auburn and quick turnaround of UT's defense that resulted in them being NC contenders two straight years.

the D in both places was strong when he got there. He followed Chizik in both spots. Texas has been an NC contender this entire decade.

He followed Gibbs at Auburn and MacDuff and Akina at Texas. UT's 2007 defense was terrible.

What if UT just really thought Dooley was the best choice after interviewing him? And this after being rejected by 3 or 4 of their other top choices? To my knowledge, Dooley has interviewed for 2 Head Coaching jobs in the last 3 years and got both of them. Tells me he's a good interview. And while that isn't everything, its hard to ignore picking who you thought was the best choice of who you had left. It is a sort of risky hire, but so was Kiffin. It very well can work out for them.

I think Muschamp is over rated. ESPN loves him because he is so animated. Also I do not think he is too wise when you of the money he is letting getting away by staying and waiting at Texas. Coach at Tennessee for 4 yrs and pull in likely 10 - 12 million or stay at Texas those 4 yrs and pull in a total of 4 million at best. He will always be chasing the money he turned down.

Didn't read the whole thread....

I like Dooley.

They had a butt-load of injuries this year. Still played hard and good imo.

I'll say now, and hope I'm right, I want Dooley as LSU's next coach.

I guess we will see. I think he will do a dang good job where ever he is.

I've talked to Dooley some personally in the past, and will say he is a very influential guy and powerful speaker. His X's and O's seemed to suck in Ruston, and he NEVER utilized the talent correctly. This year's 4-8 season honestly had him sliding into the hot-seat as coach. If he had gotten blown out in Baton Rouge, it would have been worse.

Dooley's strong points are his abilities to fire people up, and to run an organization well. He's going to need good assistants around him in Tenn in order to win. The only reason we were upset with him leaving was the recruiting impact at this stage in the game that it hits us with. Think about this... He had one winning season against bland competition where he got blown out by decent teams, and then barely squeaked out of a HOME bowl game against a poor MAC team. We loved him as an AD, but weren't "thrilled" with him as a coach. Good motivator, but still learning the X's and O's.

Tech should honestly never lose to WAC competition except for the occasional Boise.
