whoa nobody lumped you in with the UL-X

Personally I like La Tech got my master's degree there, but it is a tough situation as far as close schools.

My point with the UL-M and Grambling proximity is maybe a recruit opts to be a starter there vs a reserve at LA Tech

I would guess Ole Miss has better recruits on a whole, but in fairiness La Tech recruits Northeast Lousisana better

We primarily recruit against Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Southern Miss for Louisiana players. Texas Tech and Texas A&M are starting to move in on Louisiana too. Tech recruits a ton of players in East Texas and we battle Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Houston, and SMU, etc... for those guys.

NE Louisiana usually only has about 3 or 4 good prospects a year and 2 or 3 of those usually go to LSU.

La Tech, ULM, and Grambling are all right there in roughly 45 mile radius. the best talent will generally go to LSU or another top SEC school. The next level of talent in Norhteast Louisiana ends up at Ole Miss and MSU. So I personally think it is a pretty hard place to win. They are bigger than ULM and Grambling in my mind so that helps.

grambling gets shite

and La Tech has much more fertile recruiting than any school in fricking idaho

Like Coach Dooley said coaching at Tech requires being a good evaluator of talent. He said even his wife can pick out SEC caliber players

please tell me the top-level SEC talent that other teams in the WAC get

SlowFlowPro, you're exactly right. There's NO reason Tech should be losing in the WAC. Our recruiting should trump them, and it's because the fans/alumni hadn't taken enough interest until recently to actually donate money to build up the facilities. As interest and money keep building in Ruston, the recruits in this region should help us to destroy the lowly WAC teams and stop losing perennially to Boise State. Talent is just simply too good in Louisiana and Texas, and this is FOOTBALL COUNTRY.

Fresno, Hawaii, Boise, La Tech, and Nevada play good football. Idaho and Utah State are starting to come on. I don't think Mississippi State would win a WAC championship. There is alot of talent in California too.

What's impossible? The national championship?
Ok, yes, that's not really likely, but then I dont see Boise winning it either. I suppose they might get in next year. They have two BCS opponents and neither are any good, so they will be undefeated again. I wouldnt vote them into the top two, myself. I dont see them winning 5 games in the row in the SEC next season, picking random team names out of a hat, with just two on the road.
So, the NC is impossible, but a conference championship is possible, and a BCS bowl berth is conceivable.
Give them OC Crowton back.

LA Tech is going to lose out to LSU for the high end players.

Boise is the only big city in Idaho. And Boise had 36 from CAL on its roster this year.

SFP, you are a post generating machine. You may have a lot of misguided and borderline retarded opinions, but you get it done in the thread creation department. I don't know how you can ask a question that has already been asked by quite a few of us who hold the same opinion on DD and get this many replies. Props, my man.

Given the serious lack of success in the past decade at Tech, winning the WAC would be outstanding. We haven't won the WAC OR defeated Boise State since 2001. I'll take that for 2010 and worry about greater things somewhere down the road. Hell, just having two winning seasons in a row would be a start these days, something Dooley sure didn't accomplish.

i think what most of you people dont realize is that the close loss at LSU and Boise were with developing back up players that dooley was forced to rely on due to injuries. so yes based on that Dooley might have been a much better coach then the record indicated. we actually looked much better then the team that had a winning record and went to the INDY bowl. We were the most injury laden team in the country last year. Only time would have told buy Dooley had a very favorable home schedule next year and alot of peoples opinions of him would have changed.

If La Tech becomes a factor (like Boise), then say goodbye to automatically getting the best Louisiana guys for LSU.

People here won't wanna hear it, but we did just pull a good commit that had an offer from LSU and several Big 12 schools. LSU's not totally invincible from Tech pulling a guy or two. It'll only get more interesting over time as Tech finally now has a commitment to building a big-time program.

Not your quote, but added:

add in hawaii and boise

Not the case at all per many on TD.

Ruston and Monroe are supposedly shitholes of the earth.

I think it is very difficult to recruit there given they are in SEC country battling Arky, Ole Miss, MSU, and LSU for recruits.
