Alabama
Georgia
LSU
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Michigan
USC
Notre Dame
Penn State
Texas
Florida

Are all better jobs than Auburn. I’m sure there are a lot others to add to it. Auburn may be a better job than 3&6

Not a ton of places you can legit win a NC at, they’re one of them. It’s not a premier job but it’s a good one.

Now it does seem totally dysfunctional from a booster and admin standpoint.

Of course it is. They have the money, the infrastructure, the recruiting territory, administrative support, and the passion. It’s not the easiest job, but it’s a top job

It could be but seems like they suffer from the same symptoms as Texas that stop it from being a perennial powerhouse.

Have you not seen how fertile that recruiting ground is? You don’t even need to hop in a plane to pick from the best recruits in the country.

Have you not noticed that every team (besides Ohio St & LSU) to win the title the last 2 decades has recruited the state of Georgia extremely well?

Not really. Even a few you listed are not as good or the same IMO

Penn State is not better and, in modern times, Notre Dame is the same or below Auburn. Without the last 3 or 4 years, Michigan isn't any better than Auburn either.

You also need to qualify where the cutoff is. Is a top college coaching job a team that is a top 10 destination? Top 20? Upper 25% of colleges? Auburn is definitely in the last two and maybe a top 10 destination, right on the edge.

Penn State is def better.. Bigger fan base, more resources, only major program in the state, better GameDay venue...

Probably. Easy road. Decent buy in by school. But don't have SEC or Big 10 income

FSU

Aren't they lagging behind in facilities? Plus the revenue issue

Tennessee

Can be argued as better or worse than Auburn. IMO they are in the same tier with essentially the same virtues and weaknesses

Oregon

Great program. Big name. But no innate advantage in recruiting or revenue. If Phil wants to single-handedly outspend most top ten programs on NIL for the next five years I will take it back

Washington

I just don't see this as a serious argument. I love that part of the country but they aren't pathological about winning college football games and lack other intrinsic advantage to make up the difference

You are even leaving out the proximity to Florida. The closest out of state major college to Florida.

Any school with a 100 million dollar revenue stream CAN win big.

Does not mean they will, but certainly in the SEC there are many teams with the potential to make playoff.

Auburn has won the west more than anyone except LSU and Alabama.

They are one of 6 schools in SEC to win the conference since division play began in 1992.

Multiple undefeated season since 1992. (1993, 2004, 2010)

130 colleges are in FBS.

All but maybe 12 to 15 would trade trophy cases with Auburn.

Auburn's biggest hurdle is Saban. Once Saban is finally gone, Auburn has potential to be right at the top again.

Kirby and Uga are a significant hurdle as well. Especially concerning recruitment of GA.
