Angry much?

it all comes down to a lack of faith in Ed. He had a top DC on staff and ran him off.

"Ran him off"...Where do you idiots come up with this shite???

So Aranda leaving didn't have anything to do with getting a head coaching position and a 1.5 million dollar a year raise....

I’d like someone to tell me why, if aranda thinks this guy is so great, he didn’t hire him to his staff at baylor

The same Aranda that everyone was crucifying in ‘19? Remember Ole Miss? Some of you need your brain checked. Seriously

I think people are making the assumption that Aranda recommended him because they coached together. That has not been confirmed.

He also has close ties to Mickey and Vance Joseph. That’s probably where this came from.

Aranda could’ve confirmed he was a good coach. Doesn’t mean he actively promoted him.

Peyton Manning has said before Mike Zimmer is perhaps the hardest defense he’s ever paced. And I love aranda. Those 2 stamps are enough for me to go in with a very open mind

Unfortunately and stupidly, yes. A large part of LSU fans wanted Aranda gone during his last season here. The complaint was that he didn't blitz enough abd/or couldn't create enough pressure on the QB.

He has little experience running a defensive scheme at an SEC level. He was a position coach that wasn’t very impressive in that role, so DC is a big jump at any program for him.

So you are saying Jones is as qualified as Joe Brady, Glen Schumann, Zach Arnette and Ryan Nielsen since neither of them like Jones were former coordinators yet were slobbered over by people at TD. Man the love they got here was embarrassing. And you are wrong about Jones he was DC at Bowie State. He was also assistant HC at Hawaii. He was also DC at Jenerette and Franklin High. None of those other 3 were DC's anywhere.

Jones may not only the best choice but the perfect choice.

“I’m going to go out and get the best coordinators in the country”. That’s the bill of goods he sold us. The only one that remotely qualifies is Brady, and 0 only brought him because E suggested it. Can you explain how someone with such an unimpressive resume, that’s never been a D1 DC is “the best in the country”?

So that’s why Aranda left O as soon as he could...oh, wait.

And then O making critical comments after Aranda left was how he pushed him out the door?

There’s O not handling the situation well, which is true, and then there’s your deranged revisionist bullshite.

Sounds like Zimmer needs to do whatever it takes to keep him.

The idea that they progressed, fairly rapidly, is promising.

Whether in the context provided, or out of it, the ability to communicate is always key but after our D in 2020 it is an area of focus. With players and the other coaches.

Communication and the ability to "instruct & explain" was Arada's strong suit. I'd say the mindset of scheming a D to match the offense (integrated game plan) was too and we gave him shite for it, myself included.

But the foundation is that communication. If we can't do that the coaches won't be coaching together and on the same page and the players won't be getting assignments right or playing with good technique within the scheme. And that's exactly what we saw in 2020.

So that's a good sign Step 1 and a foundational problem (defensively) we have just might get taken care of by Jones. There's lots of other issues, but at least it is [promising] step in the right direction.

When in doubt, always believe the people who said O would never win a natty at LSU.

I said this before. Zimmer hires quality coaches. Jones is one of them. Can he call a defense? We will see in Sept.

Did anyone really believe Joe Brady would come in and the offense would like it did

Brady wasn't even on the coaching staff of the Saints
He was nothing more than an analyst with the Saints
That might have been more of a reach than this hire who actually has on field coaching experience.

If you look at the Tiger Rant, Mainieri sucks, Wade can't coach and Orgeron is a bafoon (with a national championship and after whipping Florida and finishing the year with wins over Fla and Ole Miss playing a mostly freshman team).

I'll get my coaching insights elsewhere.

There were a ton of threads during the season wanting him out. After the Ole Miss game if Ed would have fired him half of Trant would have rejoiced. Some folks tried to warn those posters that losing Aranda would be a huge loss. Sometimes you don't know what you got until it's gone.

Aranda is a 3-4 guy but he played multiples in his first few years because of the lack of a true NT. He is very good at taking the players he has and putting them in the best position to succeed.
