Yep, I have been making this analogy for a few days now and the Orgeron blow hards dont want to hear it. Its a very similar situation in my eyes.

It's about $$ right now. We have $9+ mil wrapped up in a guy who was leading us to 9-3 and 8-4 but was making it painful and not very fun to watch football. CEO will bring fireworks and enthusiasm and if he can replicate LM yearly stats (should not be hard offensively) for less money, I think this current admin keeps him on.
If LSU was ready to dump Miles last year and pay Jimbo 6 million to come here, after all the buyouts, then i dont expect them to suddenly go cheap only 8 months later.
LSU has figured out that you have to pay big to win big. That's been shown by the commitment to facilities and assistant coaches ever since Saban set the tone. Miles wasnt great, wasnt cheap and he wasnt even in much demand, and they still opened the wallet for him.
LSU going back to the cheap-skate 90's is the biggest thing that can wreck this hire. We paid to get rid of Miles, so we cant let him ruin future seasons too, just because we're still paying him and cant afford someone better.

Football job is MUCH more attractive than the basketball job was. The list of attainable, homerun-hire type candidates is much longer for football than it was for basketball.

If this is the case than we are screwed and Joe needs to get fired asap

If Tom Herman is available, and we don't offer him the job, we're flat out stupid.
And if you think he's just a "flavor of the month" you're even more stupid.

Glad you have it all figured out.

If true, LSU will be at the bottom of the SEC for years to come
Posted on 9/30/16 at 9:01 am to TIGRLEE
No worries then, he has to play Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, Arkansas, and A&M. I just don't see how he does any better than 4-4, the rest of the way.

Our fans are full of knee jerk reactive mfr's. The man hasn't coached a f'n game here yet, and folks want to just hand the job over to him, no questions asked. Those same folks would be the ones yelling the loudest for his head if he didn't win the SEC next year.

I think he's our HC for a couple years because of how much money we have invested in Les. If les actually doesn't go on to coach else where, then LSU can save some by paying CEO less and if we go 8-4 or 9-3 with a decent bowl game for a couple of years, nobody really bitching as long as we field competent teams. This is fluid and based on what Miles does, IMO.
Most of you can't seem to understand the fact that money is not a concern...whatsoever. The money is there and will be used one way or another.
If LSU goes bargain shopping, then all administrators need to be relieved of their duties.
This isn't a goddamn lemonade stand or some rinky-dink snowball stand. LSU football is valued at more than $610 million dollars as of 2015, and that's in the midst of a few lackluster seasons. If you want to dine at the "Big Boy's table", then you better be willing to pay the tab for your gourmet meal.

Remember what happened the last time LSU hired an assistant to be their head coach. It plunged us into a decade of losing. O is high energy and will be a great short term guy, but I don't believe he's the long term answer.
If you make the same mistakes again, you'll likely get the same outcome.

You don't fire Miles mid-season to replace him permanently with Ogeron. If O was the guy, they could have fired Miles and the end of last season and put O in place for MUCH less that it would have cost to get Jimbo.
That said, I truly believe they are going to give Ogeron a fair shake. If (big IF) he runs the table, then you have to seriously consider him. Right now I think the focus is on a big name, almost assuredly Fisher. However, they are willing to let O show he warrants consideration.

That's why money shouldn't matter. If you're willing to pay that much to get rid of a guy who was winning as much as miles was, you have to be willing to pay to get someone who is better. We shouldnt be bargain shopping.
As fans we have the luxury of thinking like fans, all we have to consider is W's and L's.
If W's and L's are all an AD has to consider, you are correct, you don't spend 9 - 12 million to maintain status quo. Unfortunately, the AD has $$$$ to consider. More than most fans can wrap their brain around. When the bottom line starts shrinking and you have others willing to foot the bill to stop it, well, you stop it.

This is why you cant afford to skimp on the hire. Pay up to make sure we have a guy that will compete for championships. Winning is what puts money in the bank. Not pinching pennies.

Lots of successful people know you spend money to make money, but lots of successful people still squeeze blood from a turnip and will step over a dollar to pick up a dime.

You think people won't bitch at 8-4 and 9-3 seasons?
Are you fricking serious?
We fired a NC winning coach he did that.

IMO the job is Bebe's to lose.
It isn't.
He doesn't have the job. He COULD win it if he goes undefeated.
He has no margin for error. One loss: he's not the HC.
This is too big a job.

Lets hope not, not sure what LSU would do if Coach O navigates a 7/8 game winning streak which includes a gump victory. If that would happen the decision to let him geaux would be difficult for sure, unless the powers that be have already made the decision, which I think they have. First though, beat the mizzou fake tigers.
