It's not hard to imagine if LSU struggles in 21 and this staff is shown the door. Why tarnish your reputation trying to save Orgeron's arse. Too much of a risk factor at LSU.

You just made his case. 2000 was 20 years ago and that is a very long time and that happens to be around the time Notre Dame pretty much ceased being Notre Dame. That’s like saying being the CEO of Sears is a far more prestigious job than being the CEO of Amazon. No one with half a functioning brain believes that Notre Dame DC is a far more prestigious job than the LSU DC. NO ONE WITH HALF A FUNCTIONING BRAIN.

Btw, as far as GLOBAL perception is concerned, Notre Dame may be on the brain of your average casual American college football fan in Germany because of redundant historical value. That being the case, you can go ahead and lump Alabama in with LSU, as that fan would scarcely know the difference between Bama and LSU.

LSU has a problem going forward, that will have to resolve. Orgeron has some serious personal relations issues with staff.

We've seen 2 different coordinators in 3 years (Canada and now Pelini), come in, and have arguments with O go public through the media. And both get fired after 1 year (or more correctly, both left in mutual "I'm not coming back" situations, with them accepting agreed buyout settlements).

I don't care if it's "not O's fault", that's a BAD situation to try to get others to come into. If it's just Canada, then you can try to say it was a one-time aberration, but it's now more than one guy.
In both cases, the coordinator basically say O is micro-managing.

You also have the rather bizarre situation on offense-
Ensminger takes the OC in 2017 after stating he doesn't want it, but there's nobody else to do it. Bring Canada in 2018, fire him, put Ensminger back in 2019 but with a "helper" (Brady) to actually run the offense. Brady leaves and you bring Linehan in, not as OC but again to basically run the offense, and then you run him off too. And then Ensminger steps down again.

There's no sense of stability, of any continuity, of a broad over-reaching plan for this program.

I mean it makes total sense, Notre Dame is a bigger name, Notre Dame can offer the same schedule, Notre Dame gets high profile recruits, Notre Dame has an easier schedule to the playoffs ....

Imagine choosing LSU over that

LSU has a HC who has a decent shot at getting fired next year, a HC who cans coordinators after a single year, a HC who gets in public pissing contests with coordinators, an is located in a city that had a chunk breaking off and forming their own town b/c they hate the way it's run so much.

But yeah, what a shocker he'd choose to coach for the most recognizable brand in CFB where they have coaching stability and are located in a city that is on the come up.

He's got kids so yes he's going to look at how a city is when it comes to crime and urban blight.

South Bend has actually done shite about their problems and improved things drastically. Baton Rouge's people just break up the city and ignore it.

Yea I don’t buy that at all. His kids are all young and he wouldn’t live like 99.99% of Baton Rouge citizens.

He’d live in Bocage or the U Club, his kids would go to U High or the Catholic school of his choice and they’d be on to the next job in a year or 2.

Just b/c he won't live like 99% of people from BA and will be able to send his kids to private school doesn't mean he's going to want to deal with how bad BA has become. Sorry but Red Stick is currently a negative and needs serious urban renewal.

Well you have a coach who will not be fired VS a coach that will rely on you completely to run one side of ball and will likely be fired in the next couple years.

If moving your family is something you struggle with, he should be selling insurance and not coaching at any level...

LSU is a brand in Louisiana, se Texas and south ms.
Notre dame is a global brand.

Dude, a job at Notre dame is way more prestigious and it isn't close. This op was a gem.

I completely agree with you.

Its not 1990 anymore Beano

I can’t blame a guy from Ohio choosing a job in Indiana and it’s a P5 job but it’s not “better” than LSU
