I’m leaning strong towards Derek Mason, he’s Aranda smart!

Mason just appears to make sense, he’s very familiar with coaching and recruiting in the SEC. An African American who coached at Vanderbilt, you don’t coach there without a very high IQ. I’m envisioning a handful of 5 star DL and LB’s that Mason could easily attract. And did I say he’s smart, he’s Aranda smart!

I don’t think Vandy gives IQ tests to their coaches but I’ll take your word for it.

They’re both black and smart, got it, hoping for Neil Degrasse Tyson to take over the offense.

Vanderbilt is not going to hire a low IQ coach to recruit the next DLineman and neurosurgeon.

Is Aranda black? I'm pretty sure he's at least half asian, but never could peg the other half.

Yea let's hire a guy that runs a defense that will be the opposite of the talent we recruited for this year and the same defense that had we continued it we would not have lost Ika to Baylor or maybe Shelvin would not have opted because he was a nose tackle that didn't fit a 4-3 and knew it.

His def’s weren’t too bad when he was at Stanford and all he had to do was coach D. I want to say they were top 10 or 15 in 2012 or 2013. Maybe he can do the same thing at LSU with the athletes he’d have.

I watched Mason and an ACC coach discuss and debate the LSU vs Clemson matchup during the game on ESPN 3 which had Okla St coach Van Gundy ( a jerk) and other coaches watching the game unfold. Mason more than held his own.

I’d rather Colin Powell implement a Shock & Awe campaign personally.

Condi Rice on the other side of the ball as OC! She knows her football and she's Joe Brady smart!

Seriously, if Mason runs a 3-4 and O wants a 4-3 with 4-3 personnel being recruited, this is gonna be a Chinese Fire Drill Train Wreck of epic proportions.

Things may have not worked out at Vanderbilt but I’ve always heard Derek Mason has a very bright and capable defensive mind. Hell Vandy beat Tennessee 3 years in a row and went to a few bowl games. His problem was he was coaching Vandy against minor league NFL teams. Mason was very good at Stanford as both a DC and DB coach. When he was DC they use to slow Oregon down when the Ducks were blowing people out. NFL coaches flocked to Stanford to pick Mason’s mind on how to slow down the college offenses that were filtering into the NFL. SEC coaches respect the hell out of Derek Mason. With the athletes LSU has Mason should be an excellent hire to shore up our defensive woes.

You know it’s hard to take you seriously. I mean if O hired his x-wife you’d be here praising it.

Seems like a good coach, but Vanderbilt is a trap program for coaches. Doomed to fail unless there’s a increase of intelligence in youth football across the country.
