I’m going to out on a limb. Maybe we have had to many “LSU”/ Louisiana guys.

I don’t know another program that has as many as we did. It’s probably why we have been 500 over the last two years.

What has it gotten us? Saban still got Louisiana players. We didn’t lock down the state. We aren’t seeing on the field results. We have players quitting and going pro early more than most other programs.

When Saban took over 20 years ago, I can only think of one Louisiana guy on staff, Pete Jenkins. he didn’t last long.

I’m not sure how many “bama” guys he has now.

I’m not saying you don’t need or could use a guy with Louisiana connections. You just don’t need 1/2 your staff made up of one state. It’s ok to bring in ideas, collaborative thoughts, and recruiting from other parts of the country.

The main thing is to win. you win, they will come. You want winners in your program. You don’t want losers or quitters.

I do believe o valued recruiting over development and coaching. You gotta have the dudes, but if you can't coach them or keep them does it really matter? All those top 5 classes and we had walk ons playing at the end of the year

Louisiana sucks at everything, but the majority of LSU fans don’t want a coach unless he’s one of us.

People are forgetting we haven’t had a complete reset since 2005. It’s past time

Wrong

LSU under miles started the NFLSU and that created A culture of putting LSU second. Players didn’t become “LSU” guys…they didn’t play for the brand! Honeybadger tweeted about this and was discussed plenty on college Gameday. The standard of LSU was lost.

That’s the point of a reset and cleaning house.

I think going out and getting Frank Wilson was a huge win. But I would limit the amount of guys that have coached under other LSU coaches.

We need to be able to have a guy that can go into Pennsylvania and pull a LB if needed. We need a guy that can go into California and pull an athlete.

Louisiana is stocked full of talent but there are still years where it can be a little bare in state. We need guys that can recruit nationally, not just a bunch of guys that can recruit LSU.

Frank Wilson is huge because he can help build a wall around Louisiana, but we need other guys who can build pipelines to the rest of the country.

Because he went to LSU doesn't mean he should coach at LSU. thats the one thing that needs to change here..no other schools feels the need to hire coaches who played there. LSU will be better going forward

People were sad we fired O because he's "one of us"

People were mad we didn't hire Napier because he's "one of us"

When you place emphasis on your warm fuzzy feelings and hiring only Louisiana people it's like affirmative action

I don't care what state my coaches are from, I want the best coaches

Thank you.

The coaching threads are filled with dumbasses throwing out names because they have some connection with LSU

I agree he did. Why does it have to be either recruiting or development/coaching? Why can’t it be all? Saban is a great recruiter and develops and coaches better than anyone.

Umm what? We had a reset when emmert was hired followed by Saban who he’s largely responsible for landing by telling our cheap arse AD to give him the money.
Maybe someone can correct me but I don’t think Saban kept 1 assistant from dinardo’s staff
2005 was not a reset. Miles kept staff, etc.

With no limit on staff you could probably have both.

To the dumbass below me. There is no limit on how many analysts you can have. So my point stands.

We have the one we need, Frank Wilson. I think that's all the Louisiana connection we need.

How about we get some with mid-west connection, west coast connection, Florida connection? BK knows how to recruit nationally because he's had to do so.

Louisiana is talent-rich as far as per-capita but we don't have the population to just recruit Louisiana and be on the level of Bama.

petty much this! frank Wilson is a must have on any staff as long he's recruiting at the level he always has. other that, any coaches under the miles\o regime need to go........aside from Davis who literally just walked in the door.

Primarily because of OP's statement of people opting out or transferring. We seem to have more than other schools of the opt outs and transfers. So I do agree that getting the right coaches that can coach and develop player skills and develop them into good young men.

Yeah if there is a great LSU guy and he’s the best available or about even with who is, terrific. But we hire too many people who aren’t the best because they have good LSU history.

This is completely untrue. Haveing a coach that went to the university almost guarantees a level of loyalty and stability. That’s why the ND OC stayed at ND because he played there. Also Miami just hired Cristobal he went there, Kirby went to UGA, hell Mickey Joseph went to Nebraska, Kevin Faulk played for LSU. There are countless coaches in the NCAA that coach at schools they played for.
