Smith is also from the L.A. area. He has established his legacy at Oregon State as a player and coach. I don't think it will take much convincing to bring him home.
If UCLA doesn't work out, he can likely come back to Corvallis one day, like Riley did.

Honestly, they would be idiots to fire Kelly. 8-4 is about as good as UCLA can do in the modern era with their shite support.

I can see them deciding to give Kelly another shot then he gives them the middle two days later on his way to another. If I had a boos and he threatened to fire me but didn't, I would be out the door in a heartbeat.

Kelly is just the 6th coach UCLA has had since Dick Vermeil in '75. USC has had 12 different coaches (Robinson twice) in the same span.

I think Kelly is likely safe, but Lynn is the best coach on the staff. He's a star and someone will scoop him up soon.
