Kidding. But seriously, everything you and some others are pointing to is the exact same thing Napier has done at ULL. Except he’s at a smaller school with 107th revenue ranking and has them in the top 25 AGAIN. Chew on that for a minute and let it sink. 107th in resources, 24th in the polls.

You gotta love people arguing for a P5 coach who’s team is unranked over a G5 coach with way less talent and resources that has his team in the top 25 two years in a row. Boggles the mind

Because of recruiting Louisiana I would go with Napier

Campbell

He's my definite #2 behind Lincoln Riley and I haven't even really discussed him b/c I assumed he wasn't an option.

Rhule would be 3, if the rumors are to be believed.

There is a huge gap between this tier and the next one.

Same. I have Fickell and Campbell as my 2a and 2b, but I think Fickell is even less worthy of discussion than Campbell.

I want to say Napier because I know what he is as a coach and I like it.

But I'm going to say Campbell because we all know what his is as a Head Coach... at a P5 school.

If those are the final two choices, our coaching search has failed miserably. That would be my thought.

Campbell is clearly the choice. The only reason someone would pick Napier:

Napier.

Both are gifted coaches, but I give Napier the nod for two reasons:

1) He’s proven that he can recruit this state and the region that we pull from.

2) He’s smart enough to know that it’s better to stay put, thrive, and wait, rather than take a job like Iowa State as a “next step”.

What's more impressive, taking a bottom 2 Big 12 school to relevancy while winning coach of the year 3 of 5 or taking over a Sun Belt school and doing marginally better than his predecessor?...

I think that says more about the lack of quality coaches in the Big12 than it does about MC’s accomplishments. Just using people’s “he coaches in the sun belt”, lack of competition logic.

Campbell and it’s not close.

There is a huge difference between a low low level G5 and the B12.

I know He’s at Iowa Statw, but Campbell gets too much of a pass for never having that good of a record.

9-3 is his best season and it involves a Loss to ULL. He’s about to have 3-4 loss season in a not so special Big 12.

I get It Iowa State isn’t good, but neither was Baylor and Art Briles got 10 wins by year 4 and won the conference in year 6.

I know he’s 2-4 vs OU but he’s also 3-3 vs West Virginia.

And yes I think he would win at LSU because I think Most good coaches would.

But he seems to escape the same criticism every other coach gets.

Texas is a lot more talent rich than Iowa State
