quote:Crowton does it.
so Gonzo is gonna call plays and coach QBs?
edit: he can still be named Asst. Head coach and not have to coach QB's and we can get a QB coach.

well, they just threw another $100K at it this week with Chavis!

I'm aware of this.
I am inclined to believe they felt it necessary from a recruiting standpoint, and maybe given the amount you're talking about being within reason in hopes to stay in good faith, in case a successor would want him to remain.

Keep in mind that this was prior to a bowl game, and with our hopeful returning defensive leader questioning him about his status.
If you're really expecting something to happen with the staff for next season, prepare to be shocked.
This statement requires very little speculation.

I pretty much agree with your assessment, but are you claiming you have information, or just speculating yourself?

Let's go with educated guess.

Buddy Nix said he was busy getting a coach for the Bills. He will help any of the LSU coaches that he can, so don't know about Tolbert. He is always good to the LSU coaches with making calls, etc. Just a good man. He never forgets his old players, and will take a call. Rare thing for a Coach and now an NFL GM.

Still a bit risky to promote a guy who hasn't coached an offense yet,but everyone has to be given that chance sooner or later...
Many people have said this about BG being named OC. The risk is null and void when you have Crowton as OC. BG at least gives us a different perspective to look forward to next season. Heck, the man coached with Urban Myer for 20 years. That ought to mean something. And to me, it means a lot more than Crowton's resume.

He won't have a job with the Bills after today anyway. If I were a betting man, I'd say GC "resigns", Tolbert takes over as WR coach, and Gonzo becomes OC.
you must have been reading my posts for the past month....
but I do concur with you....

__________
Seems like a step backwards to me, to go from an NFL receivers coach, to a college receivers coach.
__________
Except that the jobs situation in the NFL is a lot more precarious than in college right now. There could be a lockout after next season.

This and Family could come into play.

This move makes no sense. If anyone gets OC, its Tolbert, which I doubt. Secondly, who is going to develop QBs?
If Gonzo was promoted...a QB coach hired would be the likely scenario, not Tolbert. Having two WR coaches on the team makes no sense.

Tolbert will be here within a couple of weeks.

I would be shocked if he was. If Gonzo is the OC, then we need a QB coach with Gonzo handling the WR's. No room for Tyke.
