Didn't read the rest of the thread, but because USC is behind the times and so is the PAC 12 and no one really cares about them anymore. Not saying that can't change, but there is zero hype for USC.

LSU thought Riley was coming

Many high-up boosters were completely sold on it and were telling people it was done, which is why it got reported on this board. This has been confirmed by actual reporters.

The rest is just guesswork, but anyone with common sense and without bias probably can acknowledge that LSU got played, simple as that

I think it is very likely that an offer was made for Riley and all things pointed to a deal, but I think USC stepped into the ring later with more money and the sunny coast of Cali threw a wrench in it. I don't know if LSU got played but USC was more enticing to Riley for a multitude of reasons. But somehow the USC side was so quiet.
I think it was delayed announcing because of the possiblity of big12 title game.
Do you really think LSU got suprised by this announcement and just found out like the rest of us? I don't think so.

The only reason for LR to leave OU was OU’s joining the SEC. USC is the best choice for LR over #2 choice LSU and a bad choice of SEC OU.

I thought he was making a mistake by picking LSU, but I was happy because I think he would do well here.

How was LR/USC kept quiet? Towards the end of the season it wasn’t. I think OU had an inkling of LR’s departure. If not OU is run by incompetent buffoons! LR’s camp leaked the LSU story so that LR could positively deny them to OU while the contract got the finishing touches. Smart on LR twice!

Because it was all LSU talk and it allowed them to do it under the radar. Not too hard to figure out.
