How does Coach O react in the event he doesn't get the HC job?

Does he leave offended like he left USC? Or could there be an acceptable scenario that he has already been made aware of--similar to Ohio State naming interim HC Luke Fickell DC after hiring Urban Meyer.

I think he goes and finds himself a head coaching job. It's only been a couple weeks but he seems to know what he's doing.

O is not getting a head coaching job after this season. No one else is going to give this guy a head job and neither should we.

If he didn't stick around at USCw when they wouldn't make him the full time HC what makes anyone think he wouldn't do the same at LSU? Plus, if I'm the new HC, I'm probably not keeping him around, tbh.

If he can wait until we can afford Hud's buyout, I'd take him in Lafayette. He could be head coach and mascot.

I highly doubt a big name HC wouldnt want to bring his staff with him. Maybe if you get a guy just happy to be here he'd be ok with it. Alot of these guys have been together for years, doubt they say hey man its been real but i got this offer and my staff is already in place even though they know shite about my way of doing things.

Yeah, i think that's the disconnect. No top tier coach will come here without free reign to put together his own staff. If you want that, then it's CEO.

Maybe he'll finally understand that he needs to go build a program in order to ever seriously be considered for these big time jobs and go find a smaller school to coach at
Would love to keep him, but if he stays, he has to just admit to himself that this was the end of the road for him being a HC. It's now or never for him

It depends if he deserves it.

Plenty of reasons. They would pay him 500k to coach boys playing a child's game. He would do this in his home state, with his kids growing up around his family. He just needs to realize he had his chance, and enjoy his lot. He won't get a head gig anywhere.

One of these maybe?

He would make Louisiana great again.

depends on how he does.
If he doesn't do well, he may decide recruiting and DL coaching is what he does well, and stick to that.

He becomes highest paid recruiting coordinator and DL coach. If he doesn't get the LSU job no other top program will hire him as a HC and he wants to be a HC at a top program.

If he does well, say 5-2 this year, I can definitely see a bottom feeder fbs school giving him a shot...and he has earned that if he does well here.
He hasn't earned the right to lead the lsu program. Whatsoever

Depends how we finish the season and whether he's given an interview.
Finish 5-1 with no interview, he's probably gone. Anything else and he could still stay.

who knows what he's going to do, but to keep bringing up that he left USC after not getting the job has little similarities to his situation at the school he loves, in the state he's from, in the state where his family lives, and in the state where his 2 boys are playing college football. Again, it doesn't mean he stays, but damn, this is nothing at all like USC where he was 2,000 miles from all of the above.
And, if he is interviewed, and determined not to be their choice, I'm sure more money, assistant head coach, or other title will be offered to keep him on staff. Doesn't mean he's going to take it, but we have a lot more to offer him than DL coach like USC did.
