DEI
Same reason a school board in the midwest hired a guy who might not even have an undergraduate degree to be superintendent.
Same reason the country elected a man who never held a real job or built anything President.
Folks wanted the minority hire and damn the results.

They needed Moore to keep the program together while the school was under sanctions. I don't think this hire was ever long term.

It was a lazy, easy hire for them at the time coming out of Harbaugh’d mess

Yes, and if I'm not mistaken.. the AD's watch also includes when their basketball coach, Juwon Howard punched the other team's assistant coach after a game several years ago. The program needs to be totally cleaned out.

Reminds me of the Astros hiring Baker.

Just like New England promoting Mayo after Bill. He lasted all of one season and brought up race the first chance he got at his opening press conference.
Kraft probably phoned up Vrabel immediately and said sit this year out and you’ve got the job.

They supposed to wave a cute, thick blonde farm girl in front of him and see if starts wandering after her?

I read a report that Harbaugh had Moore's hiring embedded in his contract.

They thought they would have more severe sanctions coming and didn't mind letting Moore be the fall guy.
They thought severe sanctions were coming so they hired a guy they knew would frick the entire ops building?
You might be partially correct, but I feel like OP is also correct that they failed due dilligence lmao.

You presume he was vetted beyond the color of his skin

Beyond the outrage... wasn't he their DC under Harbaugh?
Didn't they just win a natty based on the defense?
I'd think the idea was that you continue that hard physical style of play, which gave Ohio State fits.
As for vetting the guy, there's nothing wrong with a guy being straight and liking to look at attractive women, as long as he can do his job.

I’m not sure how true but I read in his contract it stated he cannot be fired for anything to do with Stallion and the cheating scandal.
If you have to write language in a contract like that to PROMOTE from within, you failed.

Maybe, maybe not . The fact is , Kelly needed to go . He had enough to show consistency of improvement towards building a championship team . Regardless of the positives during his tenure, we showed nothing but inconsistency.
