very good

I feel like this is an exaggeration. He was certainly better than Peetz, but REALLY GOOD?

I am amazed how you ppl are so hypnotized by the performance in 3 games and ignore the rest of the season.

He asked Aranda who to get. O didn't have a clue.

daronte is a good coach...it's funny how people forget how long o talked about only getting to the QB with 4...daronte was calling plays with 1 hand tied behind his back... and as soon as o realized we needed to blitz and let daronte do his thing u saw the results...now peetz he's fu&$ing clueless

I prefer not hiring coordinators who have to learn on the job.

They were both (Peetz & Daronte) but with no play caller experience the better coaches (and the Houdini Bo Nix performance) exposed their lack of effective in game adjustments. UCLA and the SEC a tough pull. I think they got better but O wasn’t going to get another year. Really 2020 should have been a red shirt for O. But not around BR. Anyway CBK will do fine even if he kept Peetz & Jones. Carter is an outstanding DL coach.

The question is, was he handcuffed by O and let lose those last 4 games or was it just him and O saying “let’s just try something conpletelty different” and it working?

Clearly there was a huge change after Ole Miss

He became a good coordinator once he realized that this wasn’t a high school all star game and blitzing a college quarterback causes them to make mistakes.

And it’s not like we gave up 7, 3, 14 points, or something like that. We averaged like 23 PPG during that span and people are acting like he’s the next Aranda yea, the defense looked way better than historically bad but we’re not Georgia

We averaged giving up 18.5 points per game the last 4 games. We are by no means the best defense in the country, but if we played defense like this the entire year we would probably be a top 15-20 defense in the country and might have a few more wins.

I would say last 4 games LSU played exceptional D. O forced his old school 4-3, rush with 4 play Man on outside and play safeties back. That is what Jimmy Johnson ran at Miami, even Pete Carroll, but you better have 4 NFL type guys on your front 4 (which LSU doesn't have), exceptional safeties, etc.

Kevin Steele was LSU's DC in 2015 and used 3-4, Miles then hired Aranda in 2016 and he was a 3-4 so from 2015 to 2019 LSU recruited to a 3-4 defense. O comes in and goes back to 4-3 with Bo and then brings in Jones.

When did LSU's defense start to play well again, starting with Bama after the 2 week bye week when LSU went back to a 3-4 which gives you greater ability to blitz from different angles with different people

I liked the turnaround but we’ve made this dude into some folk hero savant for putting together a good LSU defense, which shouldn’t be a high bar to pass

I’d be fine if we kept him but there’s people out here wanting to not pursue Freeman and Elko types because we had a good end of the season run

I disagree, and solely on the same grounds that has been reiterated here since the beginning... LSU is NOT a training ground. Jones may very well be a good DC some day or even now, but it came at LSU's expense for half a season while he learned his way around the role.
