On Russillo’s pod

I don’t think I’ve ever actually heard him explain it…but an unnamed DC randomly called Kirk at his hotel the Friday before conference championship Saturday and said he’d accepted to be Les’ DC at Michigan. So he ran with it after passing it by ESPNs editorial people.

We can safely assume that DC was Jon Tenuta.

I may be ignorant but why can we assume that? I don’t even remember that name. Why him out of all the other possibilities?

I feel like I’m missing something.

Per Wikipedia he was the DC at Georgia Tech from 2002-2007.

So, yeah not sure why he’d be the one leaking that info.

Because Tenuta was the DC that Herbstriet said was going to Michigan with Les

Jon Tenuta was a solid name at the time and had turned out some good GT defensive units. I remember his name coming up a few times.

He was rumored to be replacing Pelini when it became apparent that Bo would be leaving for a HC job. Then, the Michigan stuff happened.

I think Les was definitely going to Michigan if 1) it hadn’t leaked that particular morning and cornered Les into addressing g it before the SECCG and 2) we didn’t make the BCSNCG. I’ve always thought Kirk caught too much shite for that because I think he was right at the time. Now, his very reporting fricked it up, so there’s some blame there of you want to throw it at him.

Or...Desmond Howard & some other guys were fricking with Herbstriet because they knew he'd go on air with it & have to recant later.

Underrated part of this. Miss Terry was spotted in Baton Rouge and Saban hated Alabama and reached out to Skip.

Supposedly.

Sorry, but if someone truly feeds you a crock of shite, and you run with it, then you either out the SOB or STFU.

No kidding.

Tenuta was one of the hottest names in college football circa 2007 and then he just fell off the face of the earth. He was rumored to be going everywhere.

I read this recently too. Honestly, I always thought his source was Les or perhaps his Agent. I say that because, despite the whole ESPN hates LSU conspiracy theory, after that incident Herbiw showed some visible bias against LSU that he hadn’t shown prior to that. So I assumed, it had to be Les for him to have that type of animosity. Like dude you told me this then got your arse on stage and denied it and there’s nothing I can do about it.

In hindsight it’s easy to say it was poor judgment of Kirk to announce it. But You have to remember, when the day started out National Championship hopes were less than ND’s playoff chances at the start of last Saturday.

Charlie Weis killed his career momentum. Both units finished 42 and 63rd, his two years there at ND. He then started his float around the ACC/Cincinnati.

At the time he said Desmond Howard called him from Hawaii and told him about Les.
