Has there ever been anything like the LSU fiasco of Nov 2015?

Local press reporting the HC's job is jeopardy. An AD actively negotiating with a potential replacement. Failed negotiations with that candidate. No backup candidate. And then an announcement that the HC will not be fired aka business as usual.

Is there a precedent for something like this? I can't recall something like this ever happening..

idk, but I read where the BOS met in NOLA and had McClendon wait in a car for 2 hrs (during a rain storm) while deciding his fate.

apples and oranges, I know.

I'd say LSU and it's Random Hero had a rough latter half of the month.

This head coach change stuff in college football is almost always kind of messy. That's one of the fun parts of college football.

It was literally the year before he went unbeaten.

Jetgate.

quote:

Under Tuberville, Auburn had a winning record against its biggest rival, Alabama (7–3), and was tied with its next two most significant rivals, Georgia (5–5) and LSU (5–5). He led Auburn to six straight victories over in-state rival Alabama, the longest win streak in this rivalry since 1982, the year Auburn broke Alabama's nine-year winning streak.

Tuberville also established himself as one of the best big-game coaches in college football, as his teams won nine of their last 15 games against Top-10 opponents since the start of the 2004 season. In 2006, his Tigers recorded victories over two Top-5 teams who later played in BCS bowls, including eventual BCS Champion Florida. Tuberville had a 5-2 career record versus Top-5 teams, including three wins versus Florida. However, Tuberville developed a reputation for losing games where he clearly had the better team. Examples include a humbling 24-point loss to a then 4–5 Alabama team in 2001 and a loss to Vanderbilt — the first time Auburn lost to the Commodores in over five decades—. In fact, after dropping three straight SEC games in 2003, Auburn booster Bobby Lowder, along with Auburn's president and athletic director, contacted then Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino to gauge his interest in taking the Auburn job if Tuberville was fired. The press found out about the meeting, which occurred just prior to the 2003 Alabama game, and the episode has since been referred to as "JetGate."

The only difference between this and what happened with Auburn in late 2003 is that social medial had yet to catch on and sports message boards were still somewhat in their infancy. Well, that and AU did things quietly while LSU allowed rumors to fester for two weeks before any decision was made

Funny. I can see an undefeated season for LSU next year. I felt they were a year ahead of schedule this year with the talent they have. Harris should improve and the team should be better.

There is absolutely no way we are beating Alabama or Arkansas on the road.

Mack Brown and Joe Jamail running over a university that's bigger than a lot of sovereign nations was pretty fun to watch. That is, if you hate UT.
