Has anyone watched OU enough the last two weeks to know why the offense has sputtered?

14 points and 21 points offensively in the last two games...3 of 19 on 3rd down combined...averaging under 290 yards per game during the span.

Is it just a case of having an inexperienced QB or just facing some stout defenses?

Are OU fans surprised by the offensive output lately?

They’ll play the best defense they’ve faced all year this week. We’ll see if they can figure it out, but I think it’s a combination of execution issues and quality defenses. Aranda knows how to defend that offense and he’s proved it twice now. Oklahoma State is a top 5 defense, but then again, OU always seems to show up and beat them regardless.

WRs aren’t as good as they’ve been in the past and the freshman QB takes a while to process things

Definitely not LRs best team

But we know what he can do with NFL level offensive talent at his expense.

Will be great to see what he does with nfl defensive talent to support

QB play has honestly been pretty bad. OL against Baylor looked awful (likely due to some of Aranda's blitz packages). Against Iowa state they had several receivers drop balls. A mix of things really. I think they are young and just not up to par talent and development wise with a typical LR team.

The QB pushes the envelope quite often instead of taking the checkdown or what the D is giving. Riley can coach that all day but when the play is in motion, he can’t make the decision for the QB.

They’ve sucked offensively all year. I don’t know enough about their particular personnel this year compared to others to have much of an opinion on the job Riley’s doing with the offense. But somebody who does sure better figure it out before we hand him $100 million guaranteed.

OU replaced a bunch of starters on their OL from a year ago and the run game has just not been consistent. Riley's offense is centered around the run game, when they struggle it sets everything back.

The big 12 also has some good defenses.

I work with a couple OU guys and their complaint, much like ours, is the OL is terrible.

I think it’s due to multiple things. The offensive line has been really inconsistent pretty much all year long they’ve had their moments they play well but their bad has been really bad. Against Iowa St the wr’s had a pretty rough day with drops and Williams just missed them at times too. Riley’s play calling has also been a little confusing it seems like he gives up on the run too quick but sometimes I wonder if that’s due to the inconsistency from the offensive line.

Or maybe when Riley has to actually develop a QB that he brings in from high school, he's not nearly as effective as he is when he gets a transfer like Baker Mayfield or Kyler Murray or Jalen Hurts.

Because he’s starting a true freshman QB

The fact OU is even in a playoff hunt is incredible. They're not a good team and haven't been all season.
