I dont know why. Garbage facilities, won't pay assistants, highest cost of living.
UCLA isn't the dream job some think it is.

The only thing I can think of is Kelly's familiarity with the PAC.

This is going to be a collective punch in the gut to the entire Florida fan base. Whomever they hire now is going to be viewed as a disappointment. That said hopefully it will get their egos in check and make them realize that Gainesville isn’t as great as they think it is

The recruiting base is very close. Probably one of the few schools that have less travel for recruiting than UF.

That’s impossible. Somebody’s son tweeted last night that he signed with Florida.

If he signs with UCLA that means the internet lied to us.

You’re currently in the denial stage, I was in it for a bit myself as our “search” began to collapse last season

Is there really any comparison between Westwood and Gainesville? Westwood is one of the nicer neighborhoods in LA. I'm sure Chip can afford it. Plus, he stays away from the rabid SEC fanbase that will want to fire him after each loss and/or 3 seasons without a National Championship.

California and LA have a ton great players. He won't have to go out of state nearly as much as when he was at Oregon. The road to the playoffs is probably easier at UCLA than Florida and he won't have the immense pressure that comes with the Florida job (or any other big time SEC job). Kelly is a Northeastern guy whose biggest college success came in the Pacific Northwest. I love the south because I'm from here. But that can be a HUGE culture shock for a guy who has little familiarity with the region.

I don't have any "sources", but the fact UCLA moved so quickly once it appeared Florida was going to grab Kelly is reminiscent of what Texas did when it looked like LSU was going to get Herman. Florida was probably a GREAT backup plan, but Kelly may have rathered the Pac 12 all along and just pushed UCLA to make a move quickly

I disagree here. You can’t get natty type talent out of LA alone. You have to recruit nationally on the West Coast if you want a natty.

Florida and Georgia produce enough talent yearly to sustain multiple national championship programs in the Southeast.

Meh... Not really. Chip was a long shot in my mind.

I'd actually was hoping Frost was the #1 candidate.

Noone can say for a FACT that the contract was or was not signed, that said, i think it was. The president of UF was on the plane that went to see Chip. I highly doubt he makes that trip unless its a done deal. Plus, you saw the mood of everyone getting off the plane, all smiles. Not the look of 6 ppl who just wasted their day by being turned down.

This is my opinion based on what we know for sure, youre all welcome to yours.

If Chip does say no, oh well we move on. Theres a handfull of HCs i like and would be perfectly fine with.
