Well yeah obviously but that's how OU does contracts. Things like heisman winners, number 1 draft pics, big 12 championships, make the playoffs and NC 's all bring a bonus. Some more substantial than others.
If he were to hit everything in one year he'd clear over 10 million, but it's just an incentive package not guaranteed money. (And it's something that might happen once in a 20 yr career)

Even if this is true of Riley coming to LSU I wouldn't call highest paid college coach a steal.
I hope Riley is not only about the money(OU rejecting redoing his deal) and actually wants to be at LSU.

I mean that's probably the selling point right? At least on the financial front. Considerable pay increase plus whatever LSU's incentive to win package will be. 8.8 million a yr is nothing sneeze at. No idea why you guys think it will take 12. OU refuses to get into bidding wars. They have other ways of keeping coaches happy that are not publicly in the contracts.
It's not really about money though. During his negotiating to get a pay raise out of this ugly words were exchanged and it turned into a fvck it I'll leave then situation.
