For the idiots who think Napier is not a good coach you suck.

Napier has turned down 2 SEC jobs. SEC jobs man he has the interest of countless other programs. Just because he is USL’s coach means nothing.
The Cajuns only had a few good seasons under Hudspeth. They are consistent under Napier. He has established relationships with high school coaches in Louisiana. He is the right hire.

Idk if he’s definitely the right hire but there’s a lot to like and I wouldn’t see it as a let down if he ended up being the guy

I don’t think anyone is saying he’s a bad coach but he’s relatively unknown compared to other big names.

The Napier obsession is as bad as Os in 2016

He’s considered a top candidate for the USCw job also. He’s a really good coach. He’d do well at LSU, or any other program really.

In the unknown is how you find greatness. Waiting to steal someone who is already great is a hard thing to do. Coaches dont jump like that often

I don’t think he sucks, but I do wonder if his record at UL was exactly the same, but he spent those years as a WR coach at any school other than Alabama he probably isn’t even on the list.

The “next Saban” talk is pretty much the only reason he gets the attention he does imo.

It's not that he's "not a good coach." It's simply a huge risk for a program like LSU to hire an unproven Sun Belt coach, when it has the resources to poach somebody more experienced and with better credentials from another power 5 program.

It's insane. If this guy was coaching at Georgia Southern no one this board would give him the time of day.

Except that notable schools have been trying to hire Napier as their HC for years?

Already turned down Auburn, USCe, and MSU. Now in the mix of discussions about VT & USC.

But yeah, he parallels Orgeron because muh ULL. I hope y’all are not this superficial about everything else in your lives

That’s not Napier or LSU specific though.

There’s an over reliance on the “Saban tree” generally in the cfb world for sure but that doesn’t necessarily mean Napier wouldn’t work out.

Lost to Texas by 20. Beat Nicholls by 3. Beat South Alabama by 2. Where are these impressive wins I keep hearing about? And if you say App State, because they just beat a "Ranked team", UT loss to Pittsburgh.

He’s one of the highest sought after young coaches out there period.

People are mad because of the white whale nonsense

If it’s a whale, great. If not, it is what it is. Napier is a great coach.

This is fine.

I personally am all in on the guy. I think he is very likely to be the next big thing in CFB.

That said, I see your point. There really isn’t a home run hire out there IMO. Lane, Freeze, Franklin etc are all in the same tier as Napier to me even though they’ve coached at major programs. They’ve had moderate success, at best. And Tucker hasn’t accomplished anything.

So if we are basing this off potential, Napier is in the same category IMO.

This concerns me. Napier may just be the best man for the job, but this cult that's building around him is odd.

100 threads like this on VT boards
USC

Bonus: Baylor

Biatch.

Wanna compare him to say Fleck or Herman? Fine.

Orgeron? GTFO. Orgeron was in the discussion for exactly 0 HC jobs when LSU hired him.
