This is stupid. I'm a Cajuns fan. I had my doubts that Napier was ready for LSU based on his gameday coaching.
I think LSU hit a homerun. Happy Napier got a big gig. Happy LSU got a great coach and hope UL gets a great replacement.
Who do you think ULL targets to replace Napier? Who would you like to see replace him? I just have a feeling yall will go after Golding.

USL
It's not a major flagship "University of" any more than the "University" in Monroe.
The Ramblin Acadians supremely lucked into Napier and now it will be back to reality.
It's a small Regional College
It's a fricking Junior College, like all the other Colleges in Louisiana. (Excepting LSU, Tulane, La.Tech, Southern and Grambling)
They should all be converted to 2 year JC's.

Your obsession with our school and athletics is weird, but I’ll go ahead and appreciate your interest.

Theyre 11-1 and their stadium is empty. The only people they should be mad at are themselves.

You like to continuously tell your sad story on here as to how USL/ULL/Louisiana fans have been so mean to you that you have to despise the school and program so much.

Tom Herman is a name I’ve heard thrown around. But honestly, even the people very tied into the program aren’t hearing anything. From our athletic department.
Ole Miss OC Jeff Lebbey is lobbying, but the Baylor connections will haunt him.
OU DC Alex Grinch and AD Bryan Maggard have a Missouri connection.
Arkansas DC Barry Odem and Maggard have a Missouri connection.
Bama DC Pete Golding has been the most linked to the Cajuns.
UGA DC Dan Lannibg has been mentioned as well.
But honestly, no one knows

The real problem is that they’re averaging 18,000+ fans to support in 11 win team with an enrollment of 19,000 and in a city the size of a Lafayette.I don’t think they can blame that on LSU.
I blame the want to be seen and feel important Lafayette/Acadiana crowd. They turned out at Cajun Field for Hudspeth in record numbers because he was popular around town and smooshed all the people (in multiple ways).
Napier showed up and just wanted to do his job. He did it very well, and with class and humility. Lafayette folks who always claim “if they just start winning, I’ll attend” didn’t show up.
Those socialite types who kissed Hud and his wife’s asses but wouldn’t attend games for what Napier built make me want to puke.

Hell, AD Maggard pulled Napier out four years ago and even hard core Cajuns fans were asking “Who the fook is that?”
I’m just going to trust him at this point. He pulled out Gerry Glasco when Cajun softball fans weren’t expecting him. He’s got an agenda of the kind of head coaches he wants representing the athletic program, and that’s what he’s going to hire.

Why would UL fans be angry?
Back to back top 25 seasons, a stadium renovation on the way and have easy pickings for another great coach.
Personally I would have hated Napier going to LSU A&M, looking forward to watching the melt here if/when Napier beats you guys.
Step it up flagship, it’s getting lonely representing this state in the top 25 every year.
This is the first time in any of our lifetimes that Louisiana is represented in the rankings for consecutive seasons by a school other than LSU A&M and all I see is shade thrown around here towards UL. No anger here!
Smack talk aside you guys made a good coaching hire and I’m sure will be back in the rankings soon enough. With all the money invested into your program it would be a disaster otherwise.
Geaux Cajuns!

It is.
Alabama fans don’t obsess over Troy. Texas A&M fans don’t bitch and moan about Texas State.

2nd largest public university in this state and the only school ranked in the TOP 25 the last two seasons.
Not bad for a junior college. What does it feel like to ride the big SEC school bandwagon only to see that little school down the road with a tenth of the budget have more success?

ragincajun, yea, you're right. i am still feeling so upset by those meanies in Lafayette. Isn't there some form of CRT that I can study to become a better human being?

Seriously people need to stop crapping on Napier. He’s one heckuva coach, that’s for sure. And he MAY BE elite. The issue isn’t that he is or isn’t, it’s that he’s not a slam dunk KNOWN quantity AT THIS POINT in his career. LSU wanted someone with skins on the wall already. NOT that he’s not a good coach or that he’s “second tier”. He may wreck shop at UF… and personally I’m rooting for him (except against us, of course)… but the odds are that BK has proven he can coach top tier and Napier up to this point hasn’t had that opportunity to show IF he can or not. UF is taking a chance, and that’s OK. He will definitely be thrown into the fire now. I’m looking forward to seeing him flourish. Nothing but respect for the man! STOP CRAPPING ON HIM.

That applies to 50% of the population within the city, and perhaps 20% of the rest of the parish. Problem is, the rest of us have to live amongst these insufferable fools.

I grew up in lafayette, all of my family went to USL except me and my brother. been a Cajuns and Tigers fan my whole life
There are a lot of big LSU Tailgate Krewes that are populated by UL Alums that have TAF Accounts and LSU Season Tix.
then there are the UL Alums that have a hard on for all of the other in state schools, especially LSU. These are the vocal minority
napier is the first football coach in school history to leave for a better job, the program has come a very long way. It wasnt that long ago the UL AD had an open call for volunteers with pressure washers to come out to Cajun Field to clean the mildew off the bleachers in the Stadium.
with the TAF Debt from all of the buildings and renovations there was no way napier was getting the LSU job, just too big of a risk after CEO. I always disagreed with Authement and the UL boosters that didnt want the job to be a stepping stone job. They wanted someone that would stay. UL is the PERFECT stepping stone job environment.
I hope Maggard gets another quality HC hire, it will probably be his last at UL. He too is destined for bigger and better things, which should be exactly what true Cajuns fans want.
