at historically sorry Ole Miss

Does Ole Miss suck, of course but humor me for a second

Coach before O

44-29 overall record (25-23 in the SEC)

Coach O

10-25 overall record (fricking 3-21 in the SEC)

after Coach O

24-26 (10-22 in the SEC)

Houston Nutt is garbage, no one would EVER want Nutt coaching at LSU but in the two years after Coach O was fired, Nutt was 18-8 wont back to back Cotton Bowls and had a SEC record of 9-7 with players that Coach O went fricking 3-21 in the SEC with. Nutt didnt bottom out until Coach O's players were gone. You want a coach that is worse than Houston fricking Nutt at running a program, (other that recruiting, the guy can recruit his arse off) think about that.

Again....a decade ago.

For example: He ran his practice at Ole Miss the same way Miles did here. He now does it totally the opposite.

Ok, so let him go prove it somewhere else. Why has NO ONE given this guy a chance in the almost 10 years since Ole Miss? I mean yall claim he did great at USC, why did he not get a job somewhere? anywhere?

I guess i just assumed that regardless of what happens the rest of the year Alleva would not stake his job on the hiring of a position coach. Surely alleva didnt fire miles so that he could hire a guy that wasnt successful enough to hang on to the ole miss job.

It's his only experience as a full time head coach. He's never made any effort to prove that he learned from his mistakes by taking a lower level job.

historically sorry Ole Miss where only 2 coaches in the past 50 years have over a .500 SEC record

One of those was his immediate predecessor. Ed Orgeron has the worst conference record of any coach who was head coach for more than a season in the history of historically sorry Ole Miss.

We just got rid of a great recruiter that wasnt a great game day coach and you want to hire the same exact thing?

didnt you hear though, that was 10 years ago. He is automatically better now because that was so long ago it doesnt matter, even though he has never been a Head Coach again since then. Plus, and this is the most important thing, he is a cajun from Louisiana so he will never ever leave us.

I think Herman is certainly a legit option and I know his name is one of if not the hottest one on the hiring list at this time.

I would caution people to not elevate him to more than what he currently is which is a bright emerging coach with positive intangibles. The closest comparison I would have for him is Gus Malzahn.

Gus was OC at Arky and the architect of the "wild hog" which was considered a great innovation at the time. He then takes the OC/AHC job at Tulsa and turns them into the #1 ranked offense in all of CFB for 2 years. Next stop Ark St as HC where he leads them to a SunBelt championship in his 1st year and a bowl game. The hottest OC and coach in the country gets hired by Auburn (2013) and in his 1st year takes them to the NCG and a heartbreaking loss. 2014 (8-5 and 4-4 in SEC); 2015 (7-6 and 2-6 in SEC) and 4-2 this year and now a coach on the hot seat.

In an incredibly short time Gus has gone from football god and offensive genius to fighting for his job. Just goes to show you don't know what you don't know.

If Ogeron is such a great coach, why hasn't he taken the head job at Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Houston, etc. and led them to a 12 win season and a Big 6 bowl win?

You say he has learned from prior experiences, let him prove it at another school. LSU isn't the place to try out coaches and hope for the best.

Not a put down to Herman at all, though he is the HC in a conference that doesn't have much strength of schedule.

Yeah florida state and Oklahoma don't count as legit wins. Definitely shouldn't count the fact he prepped a 3rd string qb to beat Saban and win an NC. Oh yeah, but if coach O wins more games we count all of that. You know, if we removed all the redundant "coach o should be hired threads" and "attendance sucks. Fix it." Threads the rant and coaching changes board would be like 4 threads long. You're just repeating shite everyone has already discussed.

Eta: if you make a thread called flavor of the month coaches why dont we discuss their success vs interim head coaches? Have you looked in to how successful coaches that go from iterim to perm are?
