Exaclty.if we wanted just a great recruiter as HC we wouldve kept the staff we had and left Coach O at dline coach.

No matter what O finishes the season he should not be on a short list of coaches to consider given his failed record at Ole Miss. You don't fire a natty coach 4 games into the season to wait and see if you could fit to live in a poncho. If a homerun coach is interested Alleva should jump at the opportunity to get that coach no matter what O would finish the year, whether he would run the table or not. O would need to prove that he could win at a fb program with his own staff and not as an interim hc. Louisiana-Lafayette hc gig would be a perfect job for him should it become open at year end. O is a Cajun so he would fit well into the culture at La-Lafayette Cajuns.

Ok, so let him go prove it somewhere else.
he is getting his chance to prove it right now. You mean to tell me that if he holds it together and wins out with just a close but competitive loss to Bama you wouldn't think he would deserve very strong consideration. Especially with the work Aranda and Ensminger are doing as coordinators. They may individually seem weak (except Aranda) but together they combine into something much greater.
The Coach O, Ensminger , Aranda combo can't be overlooked IF (BIG IF) they finish the season playing lights out, like they have so far.

It would be reactionary, if not insane, to hire Orgeron over vastly more qualified candidates on the basis of two thirds of a single season. I like O, but there is nothing in his background to suggest that he is capable of regularly winning the SEC west and playing for NCS.

You dont fire les miles to hire a person that wasnt even getting job offers for a defensive coordinator position. I would give Aranda the HC position before Coach O.

He wasnt successful enough to keep the ole miss job.

Exactly what i am telling you. Winning a few games in one part of a season with a team he didnt build says nothing about him as a head coach, just that he is a good interim head coach. His three years at Ole Miss on the other hand...

You're not getting it homey. This is not a complete test. This is like 33% of the full time HC duties. He needs to prove he can do EVERYTHING before he is even considered for the LSU HC job.

We just got rid of a great recruiter that wasnt a great game day coach and you want to hire the same exact thing?
How do you know that today he is not a great gameday coach? He did something last week because we sure looked different in the second half.

If Ogeron is such a great coach, why hasn't he taken the head job at Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Houston, etc. and led them to a 12 win season and a Big 6 bowl win?
You say he has learned from prior experiences, let him prove it at another school. LSU isn't the place to try out coaches and hope for the best.
So tired of this argument. If we hired Herman-would he not be trying to prove himself at a big time program? If we hired Fisher, would he not be trying to prove himself as a top-level coach without a Heisman QB? PJ Fleck-Obviously same thing, he would be trying to prove himself. Doing well at a small school means nothing at the level that the big teams in the SEC compete at.

A team he didn't build? What does that even mean? He didn't recruit them? So he has questions about his recruiting now?

You're right. Things like recruiting are a pretty big part of that too. (Top 5 recruiter)
Relationship with other coaches and the ability to attract top level assistants matter too. (Pete Jenkins)
His philosophies regarding practice are important. (LSU is more fresh than ever and more efficient)
Ability to do the media and booster stuff (yeah everyone in Louisiana already loves him)

Jesus Christ there is no hope for you, yeah thats what i meant, he cant recruit.. even though i have said numerous times he is a hell of a recruiter and i hope he stays..So how are you related to Coach O, by blood or by marriage?

Okay, let's take Coach O cause he has already had a job at "the level that the big teams in the SEC compete at". How did he do there?

OMG, he said "One Team, One Heartbeat"! He's such a great motivator!

According to him it doesnt matter, it was 10 years ago.

The next HC just might come from one of these 'flavor of the month' coaches. Herman was a flavor of the month at this time last year until he everyone took a closer look and followed him and he became more well known. Fleck is following that route right now and could be the next big name. Fedora, though more experienced than the other two, wasn't so well known not long ago and the closer you look and as time goes on, continues to look better and better.
Could be a name that we (the fans) aren't even aware of right now, but who could be that next coach on the rise whose name starts moving more and more into the conversation.
Sort of like Miles and Saban, though more experienced than these guys were (except Fedora) weren't viewed as superstar coaches until everyone started taking a closer look at them as they moved to the front of the conversation.
I am hoping our next coach is a rather young energetic coach that will bring new energy and momentum to the program rather than one of the retread coaches in Fisher, Petrino, Spurrier, Kelly, Stoops and that sort. Miles and Saban weren't from the highly established coaches circle.

Fisher,
Fisher isn't a "retread coach". Retread coaches are coaches that have tried and failed at other places but are given a second chance. Fisher hasn't failed anywhere.
