why take a risk on someone else.

I'd say hiring a coach who's only actual HC experience netted him a 10-25 record (3-21 in conference) is much riskier than the other two options. Like I've said before, success at an interim position does not equate to being successful in sustaining a program full-time. This would be like stepping in to do a powerpoint presentation for another guy because he got sick. Sure you could come in and read off the slides but that doesn't mean you know wtf you're talking about at the end of the day.

Mizzou
Southern Miss
Lol

Are they really any worse than Mississippi State and Jacksonville State? We certainly performed much better against Mizzou and USM than against those two, so I think it's fair to say we are a better team right now. How much better would we have had to be to reverse the results in our two losses?

Silly analogy. Hunter coached one game, had never been a head coach before and was not a proven great recruiter from Louisiana with natural ties both to LSU and the state. Oh, and Saban is not available this year.

I'm not saying we should hire Orgeron, but just that your analogy is completely inapplicable.

If they hire great assistants and can recruit elite talent, yes.

No tier 1 program would even consider him

I'm pretty sure USC at least considered him. They ended up going with Sark, but it's not fair to say they didn't even consider him. Hell, even appointing him as interim showed that they were willing to have him as head coach at least temporarily.

Jimbo is our man. A proven, national championship winning coach.

Even worse, it's a bunch of emotional, impulsive grown men.

If posters can constantly shite on him why can't i constantly offer a rebuttal? I dont see posters getting upset when posters constantly bring up miles by shitting on him.

In the last four years, no, but in pretty much every other respect, yes. In facilities, fan base, conference affiliation, recruiting territory, national recognition and even historical achievement, we are very much one of the top programs in the country. CFBdatawarehouse ranks us in the top 10 all time, and pretty much anyone would rank us at least very close to that.

Of course, you can manipulate the definition of "tier 1" and get whatever list you want. You could make a case that only Notre Dame, Alabama and maybe Michigan are tier 1. Or, for that matter, maybe even only Notre Dame and Alabama. You could include, or exclude, depending on your agenda, any number of other schools, including Ohio State, Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. LSU is clearly a program that has all the requirements to be a top-tier destination job for a college coach.

Yep, let LSU drop two of the last five and this will all take a 180. Half the people that want to anoint O today will change their tune. Let the damn season play out and stop with all of the "what if" scenarios.

It depends on where you draw the tier 1 line. If tier 1 ends with USC,ohio state, bama,Michigan ,and notre dame then no we arent tier 1 but outside of those 5 programs lsu is as relevant as any other program.

Not sure why some are sold on not wanting him to remain as HC seemingly no matter what the outcome of this season.

Because he isn't the best coach available. Regardless of how the season plays out.

Charlie Strong is a great example of "flavor of the month" coaches that haven't done very well since a move to a bigger conference.

More coaches are unsuccessful than are successful. Urban Meyer is a great example of a coach that excelled after moving to a bigger conference.

Time to let that OM HC thing go and see where things stand

Why should his only experience as a full time head coach be discounted.

though if he proves a success, then why take a chance on a HC that is unproven in a heavyweight conference?

IF LSU wins out, Orgeron's record as head coach in power conferences will be 15-22. And he will still be unproven in managing his own program.

You gonna post this everywhere? Ok then I'll post my response:

Coach O, as head coach of LSU, is the head recruiter, the guy that makes the general call of how he wants things ran like schemes and practice. He talked to Aranda about too many underneath gains in the passing game so our DBs started playing closer to the LOS. He told Ensminger he wanted more of a west coast style of offense. Result: you see a lot more slants and crossing routes being run as well as more 3-4 WR sets.

He's letting his assistants do their jobs but within his overall plan.

Not to mention that if you are going to rely on Aranda and/or Ensminger to motivate & energize the team...well good luck lol

Come on Rick, we need to move on.

I need you to put your full effort into attacking these Pro-O guys. You are relentless, and have not been reaching your full potential on that topic.

PLAY BALL!

Paper resumes don't equate to success. Brian Kelly is a perfect example of that.

If you want to focus more on his time a decade ago at historically sorry Ole Miss where only 2 coaches in the past 50 years have over a .500 SEC record, sure go ahead lol.

I'm going to put more weight on his time at USC and LSU in the past few years as a better indication of the quality of coach he is today.

As is Herman. Jimbo is much safer though he is trending down at the moment.
