Bringing the wife to formally meet his new employers and to show her around since they will be living here the next few years. No sauces just common since of a smart guy not wanting to live the rest of his life in misery.

I think it was unnecessary on his part to reveal those guys are who he wants. Why show your cards?

I tend to agree but these guys know they're the first ones interviewing for these positions so I imagine that they can put 2 and 2 together on their own.

O is completely dependent on his Coordinators and is running out of time. Of course he’s going all in.

But so publicly? Seems odd

If he doesn't get any of them he wants the public perception that he tried.

He really shot himself hiring Pelini and Linehan.

I hope Woodard won't let any of e guys interviewing walk because of money but I suspect O does have a budget to work within and that could cost us landing some of these guys.

Not really. Some people are incredibly smart in their technical abilities but are shitty public speakers. Just because someone speaks well doesn't mean they are intelligent and vice versa.

With that said I do agree O's strong suit is not public speaking. It's definitely recruiting.

If he seals the deal, great, looks like 2 excellent hires. But man if he doesn’t, that’s a big problem.

Yeah, Woodward was in the corner cringing.

It’s not the way he speaks, it’s what he chooses to speak about

I get what you mean but some people just get tripped up in interviews or are not good speaking on the spot. I don't think that is a direct result of his overall intelligence. Just a weak point for him.

Freeman is a practicing Catholic and his kids attend a private school. There's no shortage of either in S La. It was theorized that it played a minor role in not going to Lansing at the beginning of 2020 and why his name keeps coming up with Notre Dame. I'm just saying one of his past impediments might not exist regarding LSU.

Nice tip

Idk about you, but he makes way more money than me! He seems to being pretty well for a 2-star FB player coonass from La Rose. His communication technique is what’s got him where he is in life!
He sounded like real dumbass when he said “We comin’, but how did that workout for him?!?!

I don’t understand why it’s that big of a problem. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we are unable to hire Freeman.

They dude is hardest assistant coach commodity this off-season and he has three or four other opportunities to interview for besides LSU.

Bottom line, when you swing for the fences in life, sometimes you miss. When that happens, you just dust yourself off and get back to work.

It shouldn’t be viewed as a huge failure, happens to everyone who works at achieving something worthwhile.

I’m happy Orgeron Is pursuing someone outside of his network, because him operating within his network of long time contacts is what got us Bo Pelini in the first place. On the flipside, looked what happened when he stepped outside of that network to hire Joe Brady.

The fact that it was Aron canned Illini immediately following the season and is once again pursuing an up-and-coming coach with whom he has no previous ties to reflects some personal growth on his part, IMO

Seeing as Ed is handing them all the leverage, LSU should not budge on reasonable and safe contracts for these guys. Anything extra comes from Ed’s own pocket.

The man can’t keep his mouth shut when needed. He has no negotiation skill whatsoever.

It’s a terrible negotiation strategy but POTENTIALLY a great recruiting strategy

So let me get the straight... Guys complain when there's no news about candidates. Basically saying "O is sitting on his hands or with his blonde girl have high school games".. Then when he opens up to give people notice of what's happening, he's opening himself up for scrutiny. Geez, no pleasing you guys!! Which is it?

You don’t know this. When recruiting big stars who are being romanced by others, it’s sometimes a good move to let it known the star is your top option. I seriously doubt Freeman is flying down there with his wife unless his agent had already spoken to LSU about the salary range. He would just interview by zoom to amp up the other bidders.

He did not say “under pelini”. He said the defense looks better this year than at any point last year.

Quit trying to dramatize it.
