Even if Kiffin were going to Auburn, he wouldn't leave before the season is over

Why would he skip coaching the Bowl?

OM should get a solid Bowl

That rumor is hogwash

Hell Kiffin even responded to the exact tweet saying it was news to him

He wouldn’t do that if in a week he planned on doing exactly what the tweet said

Surely LSU fans understand that media rumors mean exactly nothing

Never forget Tom Herman was announced as the new LSU head coach on ESPN

Kelly skipped a bowl at Cincinnati to be fair. And it was the orange bowl vs Florida.

But that was to go from Cincinnati to Notre Dame

OM to AU is slightly ahead of lateral. . .at best

If he takes the AU job, most think it would happen after the last game of the regular season.

My best guess is the guy on twitter put out something he anticipates may happen --- or maybe even a source told him --- but I doubt the reliability either way.

From a PR perspective, I think it would make sense to get people talking about the new coach during the Iron Bowl. But honestly, no one really knows.

EDIT___ used wrong quote, but didn't Kelly bail before a potential big game for ND?

I think they were still considered a possibility for the CFP when he announced right? News broke Monday, Nov 29th and he told his players at 7 AM the next day. They were number 6 and the conference championship games had not been played yet.

I think many could argue ND to LSU would be seen as a lateral move to many (not that I agree).

It's a new era with the early signing period and juco transfers, I think it's going to be less and less likely coaches stay on for mediocre bowls when moving to big programs

In Auburn's case, we can't afford not to. If Kiffin demanded to coach the Citrus or whatever they get, he probably wouldn't be a candidate.

NSD1 and (more importantly) the transfer portal window take place in December. Coaches arent sticking around for non playoff bowls anymore

I think last year's moves pretty much destroyed that narrative.

Riley to USC
Kelly to LSU
Cristobal to Miami

He left Alabama to go to FAU when they played for the NC.

Dear god. If he's going to be Auburn's HC then it is PIVOTAL that he immediately start working on shoring up Early Signing Day as well as Transfer Portal efforts.

There is literally no time anymore to "coach out the Bowl game". For what reason LOL? Unless your team is going to be in the Playoffs competing for the title, the Bowl game is meaningless.

Kelly left Notre Dame with a couple of upsets and they would have been in playoffs

Thanks.

I thought that was the case, but just remembered how quickly it all happened after the initial leak.
