Except Lane doesn’t have an Auburn offer.
He did but turned it down, no one legit wants to come to that dump, your new AD from Miss State has never won anything either, enjoy being mediocre.

He left Alabama to go to FAU when they played for the NC.
Yeah, uh, pretty sure that was not voluntary.

Idk, seems like maybe he’s out. Surely auburn is paying something ridiculous to get him because I don’t think it’s a big level up in terms of job status.

Since 1980:
Auburn
- 3 National Championships
- 7 SEC Championships
- 9 SEC West Division Championships
- 3 Undefeated Seasons
Ole Miss
- 0 National Championships
- 0 SEC Championships
- 1 SEC West Co-Championship
- 0 Undefeated Seasons
What fricking sport are you following? It surely isn't SEC football.
Ole Miss' last National Championship in football came in 1962. This was literally while SEGREGATION was still a thing.
Do you want me to continue? Every single Auburn football coach since 1980 except for Bryan Harsin has played for or should have played for a National Championship during their tenure:
- Malzahn (2013)
- Chizik (2010)
- Tuberville (2004 - got screwed out of the birth)
- Terry Bowden (1993 - was ineligible)
- Pat Dye (1983)
But yes, other than all of the above, Ole Miss is basically completely equal to Auburn as a football program
I'd also like to point out that completely average if not below-average head coaches have won SEC titles and competed for or won National Championships at Auburn: Gus Malzahn, Gene Chizik (literally had a 5-19 record at Iowa State), Tommy Tuberville, and Terry fricking Bowden.
Ole Miss? Their "best" coaches haven't been able to do that. Kiffin hasn't done it, hence why he's about to leave, and Freeze couldn't do it - even while cheating. They couldn't even win the SEC Title while Eli fricking Manning was there as the QB.
Class dismissed.

I wasn’t aware football began in 1980.
Also, Auburn and Ole Miss have about as good a shot as one another to win a title in the next, say, 5 years.
Which is little to none.
Is Auburn a level up? I don’t consider it so, but even if it is, it’s certainly not by much.
Face it- Auburn has been relegated to a tier 2 program and has a lot going against it in terms of attractiveness. And all of those same things going against it, Ole Miss has as well. Why on earth would Lane, aside from AU offering up the brinks truck, move to yet another tier 2 program in the same division?
If he makes the move it is not because AU is a premier job. Because it is certainly not that. It’ll be because you made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
And if that happens, we will LOL at AU too because Lane just simply is not that good.
